Simcenter 3D is an ideal platform for end-to-end simulation and certification for airframes. As a continuation of the updates made in recent releases aimed at simplifying, automating, and ultimately reducing the time workflows take, this release continues that process with a tool to save you significant time and effort.

Margin of safety – Advanced load idealization

Flat panel buckling under combined longitudinal, shear and bending loads requires the linear variation of loads along an edge. To do this with Nodal Force Report (NFR) would require an NFR at every node. Now, in the 2506 release, you can use Grip point forces and moments to create custom flat panels with bending nodes. This streamlines the integration of virtually any FE result-based method in your margin of safety analysis.

The significant NVH improvements across many industries in recent years mean that it is no longer possible to achieve the required performance while engineers work in silos, particularly in the case of the development of electric vehicles. Therefore, optimized performance comes when workflows are fully integrated so the effects of one system or part on its neighbours can be fully understood and accounted for. The following updates, while in different domains, all contribute to improving the NVH performance of e-vehicles and work best within a fully integrated workflow.

NVH analysis with poro-elastic materials in the acoustic encapsulations

The enhanced Acoustic Transfer Vector (ATV) approach is a cutting-edge feature that now includes the effects of poro-elastic materials within acoustic encapsulations. This approach offers fast and accurate multi-RPM noise radiation predictions by seamlessly integrating the sound-damping capabilities of these materials, such as those used in an engine cover such as that used in the study shown in the image. Simcenter 3D empowers you to design e-drives that perform correctly the first time, ensuring a quieter and more efficient solution for modern e-mobility challenges. Experience the future of e-drive NVH analysis and elevate your design capabilities.

Improved bearing visualization

Advancements in e-machine and bearing modeling in this release feature an intuitive UI for defining bearing mounting conditions and dedicated bearing visualization, making the process not only efficient but also insightful. This enhancement eliminates the labor-intensive and error-prone steps traditionally associated with bearing modeling, enabling quick and accurate results. With unparalleled ease and precision in your design process, you can elevate your projects with the power of seamless integration and cutting-edge technology.

The integrated environment of Simcenter 3D is ideal for simulating the complex, mutiphysics phenomena that take place in turbomachinery, like aircraft engines and gas turbines. In a continuation of the last few releases, we further update the tools available for rotating machinery to extend our lead in providing the most extensive list of useful capabilities that engineers want in this domain.

Multi-stage cyclic symmetry

We are excited to introduce Simcenter 3D Rotor Dynamics updates that allow for the computation of complex modal analysis of unsymmetric assemblies. These improvements are specifically tailored for turbomachines with multiple stages of cyclic symmetry and anisotropic bearings. This advanced capability overcomes the limitations of previous single-sector models, enabling highly accurate simulations that reflect the unique characteristics of your advanced machinery. Elevate your projects with unparalleled precision and efficiency, using Campbell diagrams and complex modes in a fixed reference frame.

The complexity of modern products, combined with the rigorous process of certification in many industries, makes the lead time of new products exceptionally long. With many tasks being repeated before a final design is accepted, small time savings per task can result in significant savings for an entire project. Therefore, automating such tasks, incorporating them into cohesive workflows, and generally finding ways to reduce the time each task takes is our mission. The following updates highlight some of our recent successes.

Complete, flexible, and faster source pre-processing for pass-by noise

We are pleased to introduce the enhanced Pass-By Noise vertical in Simcenter 3D, an exciting feature that enables faster and more flexible pre-processing of sound sources. This update supports sources from multiple files, generates transient sound sources based on a waterfall of frequency spectra and RPM signals, and ensures the correct (signal energy conserving) treatment of broadband noise sources. These improvements streamline the workflow for simulating pass-by noise, significantly reducing the time needed to achieve accurate simulation results.

Fully utilize the power of FEMAO and BEMAO solvers with optimized meshes

The new meshing extensions in Simcenter 3D significantly enhance the creation of optimal acoustic meshes. These updates include curvature-based element size variation, which facilitates lean mesh creation ideal for FEMAO and BEMAO solvers, and quadratic elements for convex meshes, ensuring smooth convex surfaces that maximize the effectiveness of non-reflective boundary conditions. These innovations enable more accurate and efficient acoustic simulations, providing our customers with leading-edge technology to elevate their projects.

Position-dependent inherent strains

This update includes an advanced automatic material calibration procedure that allows for the creation of position-dependent inherent strains across the build-plate. This innovative feature addresses the challenge of varying inherent strain values over the build-plate to predict distortions more accurately. Our easy and automatic procedure to create and manage inherent strain fields ensures precise and efficient distortion predictions, significantly enhancing the accuracy and reliability of your simulations.

Selection recipes for automatic seam and spot weld detection

It is our pleasure to introduce an advanced feature that significantly enhances the detection of seam and spot welds. With this innovative capability, selection recipes automatically adapt to mesh changes, ensuring robust weld definitions and saving valuable time for users by streamlining the process and reducing manual adjustments. This update offers a more efficient and reliable solution for weld detection, providing our customers with cutting-edge technology to optimize their workflow.
