I am a chartered chemical engineer working with computational fluid dynamics since the mid-1980s. I started at the world’s first commercial CFD company, then joined Flomerics as a spin-off start up before it was acquired by Mentor Graphics, and which is now part of Siemens. It has been a great career that continues to take me all over the world. I am passionate about engineering, and electronic products in particular, having been involved with electronics cooling since the early 1990s. Two aspects fascinate me: the ‘what’ done to improve the product during development, which today is enhancing the thermal digital twin; and the ‘how’ of improving productivity and workflow.
Outside work one of my interests is my Caterham Seven sports car. They are almost infinitely configurable, so there is great scope to further improve the driving experience with aftermarket upgrades. So far the engine, suspension, wheels & tires have been upgraded. There are lots of minor things left to do including LED lights. Some things Caterham-related might just find their way into this blog.
