Realize LIVE 2023 Capital sessions DAY 3

Wednesday welcomed back Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation for a second session. Keith Drittler, System Configuration Specialist, was joined by Louis Board, Senior Technical Writer, to present Producing EWIS Compliant Wiring Diagram Manuals. The two discussed the process that Gulfstream went through to develop a sustainable Wiring Diagram Manual that met FAA requirements for Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS) compliant document for Instructions for Continuous Airworthiness.

Rashad Hendricks, Interactive Schematics Manager at Navistar Inc., shared yet another success story for Capital: Using a Generative Electrical Design Flow to Drive Aftersales Efficiencies. With the growth of engineering change and speed of products to the field, along with increased electrical complexity, the challenges on technical publications to maintain and provision documentation have become unmanageable with traditional manual methods. To still deliver these impacts, technical publications need to streamline their processes to exploit the digital twin to provide content-rich documentation in less time with less effort and an easy-to-navigate technician interface. Rashad shared Navistar’s journey of implementing a Generative Electrical design flow that now drives more profound efficiencies in their aftersales technical publications–not only for authors in the OEM, but delivers ‘right first-time’ maintenance and repairs documentation supporting technicians to get products back on the road within 24 hours.

Sky Matthews from IBM joined Hans-Juergen Mantsch, Siemens for the presentation De-risking software-intensive product programs through connected engineering. In this talk, they explained how IBM and Siemens can help customers connecting vertical design layers and engineering disciplines from requirements on system level to engineering designs on component level, and horizontally from design stage to verification and validation. With IBM Rhapsody and Siemens Capital E/E solutions, customers start their software-intensive product journey integrated and stay integrated all the way throughout the vehicle lifecycle.

Chad Holley, Product Manager at Siemens, conducted a presentation that garnered much discussion and interaction from the audience. Called Guiding you on your electrical journey, Chad went on to share some of the reasons he has seen customers choosing Capital throughout his 20 year career with the product. One reason is because of the unique platform generative offerings, an iterative design process involving software that will generate a certain number of outputs meeting specified constraints. He reached out near the end of his talk, saying “let us help you” in discussing how change can be difficult, but with a partner like Siemens and the wide variety of resources, training, and support available, you shouldn’t have to go it alone.

Day three closed out with, yes a terrifically entertaining show put on by the band Earth, Wind, and Fire, but not before another engaging presentation in the Capital track! Presenting for the first time at Realize LIVE was Bryan Horvat, Systems Integration Engineer at Rivian Automotive, Inc., an American electric vehicle manufacturer and automotive technology company founded in 2009. His talk Capital’s Flexibility is Making Connections Both Large and Small showed Capital’s flexibility and how it allows software to be launched and utilized efficiently at a production scale at companies both large and small. He discussed and demoed the process of utilizing Capital in increasingly mature design environments at Rivian.

Realize LIVE 2023 Capital sessions DAY 4 (Final day!)

On the final day, Steven Mitchell, Engineering Specialist – Wire Data at Bell Textron Inc. (manufacturers of Bell helicopters), was joined by Daniel Wawrzynski, Wiring Associate Technical Fellow at Bell to present Leveraging First Pass Generative Workflow. They were able to show the evolution of Bell’s utilization of Capital software over the years. They focused on their current generative process leveraging Capital Design and their custom scripts to minimize time and manpower needed to fully design and integrate the wiring of future air vehicles.

Once again, Realize LIVE Americas delivered a stunning show. The Capital track sessions, the main stage presentations, a well-trafficked booth in the expo area with plenty of Capital customer interaction, demos, training, executive meetings and networking all contributed to the overall success of the event.
