The New Verification Horizons is Here!

By Tom Fitzpatrick

Our March issue of Verification Horizons is now available here. Aside from giving me a chance to work through my disappointment at the New England Patriots’s loss in the Super Bowl, this issue has many great articles on a variety of topics from Portable Stimulus to Power-Aware Static Verification, writing complex assertions and RISC-V verification strategies. I’d particularly like to draw your attention to two articles about some of our Questa® Verification IP (QVIP) components.

In “Configuring Memory Read Completions Sent by PCIe® QVIP,” you’ll get a great overview of the PCIe read request protocol and see how Mentor’s PCIe QVIP component is flexible enough to handle all variations of the protocol to suit the needs of your particular environment. In “SATA Specification 3.3 Gaps Filled by SATA QVIP,” you’ll learn how a robustly-designed verification component can fill the gap when even the protocol spec itself has some issues. After an overview of the SATA protocol and an explanation of these gaps, you’ll see how the SATA QVIP component addresses each of the gaps to allow you to design an efficient implementation of the protocol.

I hope you’ll enjoy reading all of these great articles and I know you’ll learn a thing or two from them. That’s our goal, after all, in bringing this newsletter to you. If you would like to contribute to a future issue of Verification Horizons, we’d love to have you.
