What’s new in Xpedition Enterprise 2504

Building on the core 2409 release, where we introduced the concept of the next generation of electronic systems design, the Xpedition Enterprise 2504 release continues to enhance and expand this vision. With 2409, we introduced a revolutionary, intuitive, and streamlined design environment that enhances productivity for both new and experienced users. Our PCB design flow has been continuously enhanced with AI capabilities to offer advanced predictive commands and other productivity boosters. Our environment is cloud-connected to facilitate seamless collaboration throughout the design process. Integration has been further improved to eliminate silos and ensure a cohesive design workflow.
In 2504 further enhancements have been made across all five technology pillars.
Intuitive user experience (UX)
The latest release of the software includes a range of enhancements focused on improving the overall user experience. Key improvements include:
Usability enhancements in Designer include cleaning up settings, improving messaging, adding context popups for special components, and fixing issues with reordering sheets in the navigator. Predictability improvements, including enhanced tooltips, better handling of verify/DRC defaults, and improved management of concurrent mode settings in the EDM integration. The software also features enhanced readability of the user interface and general stability and responsiveness improvements. Additionally, the release addresses internationalization by enabling seamless switching between English and Japanese, as well as improved handling of Japanese text in properties and add-ins. Scripting capabilities have also been enhanced, and the team has identified and fixed remaining connectivity issues related to global signal tap symbols, improving the software’s reliability.
AI-Infused
An AI-powered chat interface enables focused and detailed analysis of component datasheets. The solution allows users to customize the AI chat model and leverage indexing of the component datasheet content, ensuring that the AI-generated answers are derived solely from the available datasheet information. This targeted approach empowers engineers and designers to quickly and efficiently extract key insights from component datasheets, streamlining their design and decision-making processes.
Cloud-connected
There is now a PartQuest plug-in for MPN search, as well as new PartQuest/EDM Collaborate integrations. In 2504 PartQuest can also export directly to HyperLynx AMS.
Integrated
The 2504 release includes a standalone tool for exporting RF library data from a central library to ABL, enabling the extraction of component properties from EDX and improved management of general property data. 2504 also introduces the ability to control layer mapping, net mapping, and other options through a configuration file rather than the import/export user interfaces. Additionally, the export process now supports the specific syntax required for ADS-specific properties, such as R, L, and C types. RF meanders are exported as the ADS trace object if the width is constant, and as polygons in other cases. Users now have improved control over what to export, including selection, RF group, and user-defined area options. Finally, the software now includes support for obstructs in the ADS export process.
We have also introduced an initial integration between EDM Collaborate and PartQuest Portal, enabling a seamless component search workflow. Users can now start a component search within EDM Collaborate and, if the required component is not present in their local library, easily transition the search to PartQuest Portal. This integration is further enhanced by drag-and-drop functionality, allowing users to quickly and conveniently move component data from PartQuest Portal directly into their own library, streamlining the component selection and procurement process.
Secure
Continued improvement of enhanced data security respecting data access restrictions, and now multi-factor authentication.
