Elevate sheet metal design with new etch and bend features 

Continual improvements to Solid Edge’s industry leading sheet metal capabilities streamline workflows and improve precision. Etch features are now supported across bends and curved faces. The etch is automatically placed on all faces touched by the wrapped input geometry, and the command automatically remembers the last options you used for easier replication in the future. The etch geometry also adjusts correctly on bend regions when the sheet metal flat pattern is created.  

The improved curve connectivity across face edges with the Wrap Sketch command guarantees curves lay on parent surfaces and improves the wrapping around closed loop faces. These improvements are implemented in both the assembly and part modeling environment, increasing the reliability and accuracy of your wrap sketch results. 

New bend deduction and bend allowance in bend length calculations for sheet metal allow you to control material conditions related to manufacturing and tooling. You can select the bend calculation method, edit in the spreadsheet and customize the specific settings for bend equations. This ensures your designs translate seamlessly from the digital twin to the physical part, minimizing errors. 

The Inquire Elements command supports the new bend calculation methods, showing bend properties, calculation method, Microsoft Excel® file information and neutral factor in use by the specified individual feature. You are now able to know exactly which properties and neutral factor are used on a specific bend whether editing the default value or retrieving it from the Excel gage table.
