Simcenter Prescan 2411 – Automated animations with enhanced camera & radar capability

Default animations and easier replay

Simcenter Prescan 2411 automates model animations of vehicles and pedestrians, making it easier to create realistic simulations. The animation of natural movements, such as the wheels of vehicles rotating as the car moves or pedestrians walking along a path, are automatically animated, removing the need for user-facing Simulink blocks and significantly reducing user effort. Whether you import Open Scenario files or manually move an actor, animations are applied seamlessly in both Matlab and C++ environments. Additionally, replay functionality has been enhanced to allow saving and sharing of multiple replay files across machines, enabling easy scenario playback directly in the Prescan viewer.

Elevating the realism of the sky and surfaces

This release elevates the visual realism of the simulation world. Dynamic 3D volumetric cloud systems in the sky model provide users with control over cloud coverage, movement, and its interaction with lighting and shadows.

Better yet, enhance realism with the new out-of-the-box realistic asphalt materials that simulate cracked or damaged surfaces, including road markings, without additional manual effort.

Sidewalks have also been upgraded with editable materials and user-defined textures, offering greater customization for more accurate digital twins. Lastly, shadow rendering improvements enhance stability and realism, especially for perception verification use cases and indoor environments like parking garages.

Optimizing for better performance in Simcenter Prescan 2411

Simcenter Prescan 2411 delivers major performance upgrades. Regenerating a model after editing is now up to 10 times faster, reducing the regeneration time for a 1000-object simulation from 550 seconds to just 60. The addition of multi-threaded support for SUMO traffic simulation also provides a 50% improvement, ensuring optimized traffic computation without slowing down the overall simulation.

Multi-target scene emulation for OTA Radar testing

In collaboration with Keysight, Simcenter Prescran introduces a cutting-edge solution for over-the-air radar testing, where radar waves directly interact with the device under test. Unlike conventional single target emulation methods, our technology allows emulating scenes comprising multiple targets.  The new Radar Scene Simulator plugin delivers highly detailed, radar-detection-like data. By combining realistic models with physics-based radar simulation, it generates synthetic radar data, capturing intricate details such as microdoppler effects and multibounce phenomena like ghost targets. Therefore, Simcenter Prescan, together with Keysight’s scene emulation, offers the highest level of detail available in over-the-air testing setups.
