What’s new in Opcenter Execution Discrete 2507

Enhancing production quality and efficiency: Advanced containment, a unified low-code manufacturing app, and hybrid Process-Discrete execution in one release.

Summary

Opcenter™ Execution Discrete (EX DS) 2507 software, which is part of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, the comprehensive and integrated portfolio of software, hardware and services, is designed to meet the needs of industries that execute sequential discrete manufacturing functions, including:

  • Automotive tier suppliers
  • Aerospace and defense tier suppliers
  • Energy and utilities
  • Industrial machinery
  • Heavy equipment
  • White goods and home appliances
  • Complex parts manufacturing and assembly
  • Additive manufacturing

By using Opcenter EX DS you can leverage specialized out-of-the-box (OOTB) functions for complex assembly manufacturing, job shop environments (high complexity, low volume) and automated repetitive manufacturing industries (configurable products, high volume).

Opcenter Execution Discrete 2507 can be installed directly or as an update.

This release includes:

  • Containment: Thanks to the new Containment feature, when the material tracking units, which have issues that prevent them to be used in the production, are identified, they can be easily isolated from the production itself so that it is possible to either fix them or reintroduce them in the production backlog (for example, thanks to a rework process) or definitely remove them (for example, thanks to a scrap process).

The integration with Opcenter Intelligence Traceability Application allows the quality manager to have a clear understanding of how the production is proceeding so that he/she can easily pinpoint those production items that present issues and, thanks to the genealogy capability, also quickly identify all the related production items.

Once the non-conforming production items have been identified, a Containment Request is raised in order to isolate these items from the production.

Opcenter Execution Discrete is able to import the incoming Containment Request and mark the involved material tracking units as In Containment so that they cannot proceed any further in the production.

All information related to the imported request is saved in Opcenter Execution Discrete as well.

It is also possible to cancel a Containment Request from the Opcenter Intelligence Traceability Application, in this case as well, Opcenter Execution Discrete is able to import the incoming Containment Release and update the related Containment Request accordingly and release the material tracking units from the In Containment status so that they can be restored in the production process.

  • Dedicated low-code UI app for manufacturing in all production contexts: As of this release, the  Opcenter Execution Discrete Manufacturing App has been provided to satisfy the needs of all 5 production types (that is, Serialized, FlexibleSerialized, FullQuantity, TransferBatch and FlexibleBatch production), all in one place, rather than having to navigate between the Opcenter Execution Discrete Complex Manufacturing and  Opcenter Execution Discrete Repetitive Manufacturing Apps.
  • Hybrid scenario englobing Opcenter Execution Process: As of this version, it is possible to take advantage of a hybrid scenario in which both Opcenter Execution Discrete and Opcenter Execution Process reside on the same host and concur in an overall production process:  in this case, the same plant employs a batch or semi-finished material produced via Opcenter Execution Process to manufacture a final product by way of  Opcenter Execution Discrete .
