How these amazing companies were prepared for this fight

We are all reeling from the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic. While many of us are just catching our breath and adjusting to a new way of life, some among us can’t afford to slow down. Certainly, our healthcare workers, our government officials, our supply chain workers, our utilities, our essential businesses – all are continuing to serve under intense pressure.

Pharmaceutical research centers and manufacturers are among those that feel an enormous pressure. In fact, they geared up with a new zeal in response to this unexpected, invisible enemy. Laboratories are working overtime running multiple blood analyses to separate infected from non-infected people, to get a better insight in the behavior of the Covid-19 virus, as well as drastically speeding up the quest for a vaccine.

These organizations are used to operating under pressure in an environment where they need to innovate continuously, to develop new products ever faster, while adhering to increasing regulations. These companies’ ability to compete in such a dynamic environment is what has now put them in a position to respond to COVID-19 in a rapid, creative, innovative way.

We at Siemens are proud to partner with several of the world’s leading research centers and manufacturing companies in the Pharmaceutical arena, which have built their processing and innovation infrastructure with our technology. This technology supports these organizations across the entire end-to-end workflow in their laboratories – from registration of samples over test execution to validation and reporting of the analysis results; and bringing test vaccines into real production. We are intimately familiar with what it takes for the Pharma industry to bring new lifesaving drugs to market, rapidly and safely. Their ability to respond to a global pandemic was decades in the making.

Our Pharma customers have invested heavily in digital innovation to continue to fight battles and bring cures to market across many fronts. It is particularly gratifying to see how their powerful infrastructure can now be put to use to fight the worlds’ new common enemy – COVID-19. We salute our Pharma partners, and continue to serve beside them as we face this worldwide battle together.
