What’s New in Capital 2512

Accelerating development of E/E systems that differentiate the world’s most sophisticated products

We are thrilled to announce the annual main release of Capital™ software, Capital 2512, packed with new functionality, ease-of-use improvements and integration enhancements!

In the 2512 release available to customers, key highlights include productivity enhancements for the generative design process, routing enhancements for large platforms, improved security, extensions to the Teamcenter integrations and even AI-enabled design assistance.

Deployment is supported in both an on-prem and SaaS model, including in this new release a SaaS Desktop experience for Cloud users.

Here is an overview of the key enhancements, including two new products:

  • Capital Copilot, your new AI-enabled electrical design assistant
  • Capital Workspace, your new web-based reporting, diagrams visualization and collaboration environment

Capital on the Cloud

Experience the benefits of SaaS to automatically update and easily administer Capital in large-scale enterprise environments

Designed for large enterprise cloud environments, Capital X prioritizes productivity and seamless administration. The platform ensures superior reliability and efficiency through optimized load balancing and automatic scaling under high load. Increased availability options ensures uninterrupted service.

Accessing Capital X through a SaaS desktop experience, users will experience rapid response times, smooth design flows, and automatic desktop client upgrades for continuous access to the latest features and security.

New product for Capital 2512: Electrical Design Assistance with AI

Enhance and expand generative electrical design with AI-driven solutions

Capital Copilot AI capabilities are set to revolutionize electrical design. In this first release, Capital Copilot provides AI-powered content generation and design assistance. Key features include summarizing and comparing designs, generating and refining designs with natural language, generating advanced queries or library search filters using natural language, and creating library parts directly from images.

The architecture currently supports Microsoft Azure GPT and AWS Bedrock Anthropic Models and offers a Bring Your Own Large Model (BYOLM) approach for greater customer control and cost efficiency.

New product for Capital 2512: Capital Workspace

Interactive web-based reporting, visualization and data management through a secure, modern web-based interface

Capital Workspace is a web-based platform designed to enhance productivity and collaboration by unifying various Capital web applications into a modern, secure interface. It offers comprehensive data visualization and reporting capabilities, robust security with granular access control, and capabilities for task management and collaboration.

Additionally, Capital Workspace inside Designcenter NX lets engineers interrogate diagrams, generate reports, and crosshighlight schematicto3D associations—so issues are found faster, intent is clearer, and rework is reduced.

Capital 3D Electrical Design

Empower users with Capital advanced electrical design capabilities directly in a unified 3D environment within MCAD

Multi-disciplinary electrical systems integration using an integrated 3D aware context accelerates development time. Capital best-in-class platform wire routing and separation design flow is available directly in the Designcenter NX or CATIA V5 environments. Complex electromechanical design challenges can be addressed in the full electrical routing context in Teamcenter managed mode, and engineers are always sure to be working on the latest up-to-date electrical data.

Model-Based Systems Engineering integrations

Import normalized unified system models originating from various SysML® modelers from Teamcenter into Capital Systems

This integration creates a robust traceable Digital Thread across software, networks, electrical, and electronics, empowering efficient change, variant, and configuration management. Customizable import settings, such as preserving diagram visual layouts or port generation streamline cross-disciplinary development to ensure the transfer of design diagrams is as effortless and accurate as possible.

Trace the full ECU Software requirements set and orchestrate the system and functional validation directly from Polarion

This integration orchestrates validation and configuration activities directly from Polarion, ensuring full traceability of all software requirements and test cases  throughout the development cycle. Customizable digital twins can simulate complete ECU behavior, allowing identical test suites to run on virtual ECUs, thereby accelerating testing, reducing reliance on physical hardware, and shifting validation left in the development process.

Enhanced electrical routing for large platforms

Deliver products to market faster by increasing efficiency of electrical platform development through improved usability for signal mapping and routing of complex multicores

This release significantly expands the capabilities of Capital Wiring Integrator. It supports complex multicore routing and scales to large aircraft platforms with hundreds of thousands of wires. Additionally, we’ve enhanced the user experience for signal mapping within the generative flow by adding more automation ad filtering, and improved debugging capabilities through better visualization of wiring.

Harness Manufacturing

Enhanced data publishing and PLM integration to feed downstream manufacturing flow

In this release we are integrating Capital design and manufacturing data with Teamcenter Easy Plan in order to connect the digital thread from product design to the manufacturing floor. To publish critical harness manufacturing information to Teamcenter, key features include defining production task dependencies, accessing detailed harness object relationships via API, leveraging Capital’s generative capabilities to create and update the manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) and bill of process (BOP) in Easy Plan, and automatically reconciling the harness engineering bill of materials (EBOM) with the Easy Plan MBOM and BOP. Additionally, it allows for the easy access and viewing of Capital’s automatically generated, configurable work instructions directly within Easy Plan’s BOP and work packages.

Enhanced formboard diagram merge

Capital Formboard Manager further streamlines the merging of large harness designs onto a single formboard with the objective of reducing the number of fixtures. Advanced merging options and design data navigation in a tree view provide better clarity, consistency, and manufacturing efficiency. Custom plugins can be developed to analyze merged and source designs.
