Siemens partners with Cybord to provide visual inspection solution as a service

The Cybord solution enables visual verification of every PCB component

Defective and counterfeit components cause the majority of product failures in the market today. Among other factors, that’s because major shortages in the component supply chain are driving manufacturers to work outside of their trusted supplier network. Existing traceability solutions fall short as they rely on testing small samples and can’t provide visual verification of every component in a mixed batch before it is placed on a PCB.

Cybord – a startup that helps electronics manufacturers improve product reliability and material sourcing using advanced AI and analytics – has tackled the problem by developing a first-of-its-kind solution that enables visual inspection of 100% of the components on a PCB. The industry-disrupting SaaS solution utilizes existing images taken by SMT assembly machines and pairs them with proprietary AI to determine whether each and every component is authentic and in good condition before it is placed on the circuit board.

We’re excited to announce that Siemens Digital Industries Software recently signed a new Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) partnership with Cybord to offer the visual inspection solution as a service (SaaS) as part of Siemens’ manufacturing analytics solutions for electronics manufacturers. Cybord can be integrated as part of a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) system or as a standalone solution and is available to the production line operators and electronic manufacturers, providing production data analytics and verification to all stakeholders.

“The Cybord SaaS solution helps fill a key gap by providing electronics manufacturers with an accurate and scalable way to help confirm that all PCB components are authentic and with satisfactory quality. This is even more necessary today with many manufacturers being forced to source components from new or less-familiar suppliers due to the ongoing supply chain disruption,” says Izik Avidan, Analytics Business Unit Manager, Digital Manufacturing, at Siemens. “With this solution, our customers can gain increased transparency over their components, enabling them to reduce risk through more comprehensive validation.”
