Today, at the AWS Transformation Day event in Munich, Amazon Web Services (AWS) launched its new AWS Industrial Software Competency Program. Siemens PLM Software, with its Teamcenter portfolio of solutions, achieved status as a partner in the program after rigorous AWS technical validation, and came through with flying colors (read press release).
Teamcenter product lifecycle management (PLM) software helps companies deliver increasingly complex products to market while maximizing productivity and streamlining global operations. Acting as the digital thread that connects many data sources, Teamcenter helps companies digitalize information to closely simulate their products and processes — improving global collaboration throughout the enterprise, and driving innovative products to market faster.
Using Teamcenter cloud solutions helps customers lower their cost of PLM ownership by simplifying deployment, eliminating large upfront infrastructure costs, and improving enterprise access to PLM data and processes. By enabling true digital twins of not only the product, but also the production environments and real-time product performance, customers large and small can be empowered to make product and manufacturing information universally accessible and useful for their business.
Why is this designation such a big deal? As part of this designation, Teamcenter cloud solutions satisfied the technical validation that includes AWS’ “Well Architected Framework” checklist. From a customer perspective, this means customers can be confident that Teamcenter will meet, or even exceed, the same performance and security standards on the cloud as on-premise deployment. Teamcenter customers can also take advantage of AWS cloud services. Please see my previous blog on cloud solutions where I highlight the advantages of AWS cloud services used in concert with Teamcenter.
Teamcenter has always been the leader in PLM software, and we are proud to team with cloud industry leader AWS to deliver strong, quality solutions on the cloud. This gives our customers the technology choices they need to not only bring successful products to market faster but change the world with their innovative products.
Take, for example, the Valeo Siemens eAutomotive joint venture for Electric and Hybrid vehicles. They’re using Teamcenter together with AWS to quickly realize business value, leaving more time to focus on innovation and bring products to market faster. They get the support they need for a very fast growing business using a flexible environment. According to Axel Biedermann, CIO Valeo Siemens eAutomotive Germany GmbH, “Teamcenter on the AWS cloud enabled us to quickly implement a highly-available and flexible solution, supporting our needs to grow very rapidly and allowing us to focus on innovation.” Other customers with successful Teamcenter and AWS deployments include America Makes and NP Innovation.
