With the launch of Designcenter Solid Edge 2026, we’re publishing series of blogs to spotlight the release’s most exciting new features and enhancements. In this post, we’ll explore the latest updates with NX X Essentials, part of the Designcenter suite.

Designcenter: NX X Essentials brings the power of advanced engineering tools to your browser. With full access to CAD, CAM and CAE workflows from any device, designers and engineers are no longer tied to a specific workstation. Whether you’re in the office, working remotely or on the move, you can pick up where you left off with seamless flexibility.

Streamlined concept development

Traditional CAD tools can slow down creativity, especially during the early stages of design. NX X Essentials changes that by offering AI-assisted tools and a user-friendly interface that make it easy to sketch, modify and iterate ideas quickly. With the ability to work across devices, teams can explore concepts faster and turn inspiration into tangible designs without any obstacles.

Integrated collaboration for every user

NX X Essentials provides secure access for non-CAD users to view, mark up and even generate 2D drawings directly from live Parasolid data. This reduces redundant work for design teams while empowering colleagues in other departments to contribute meaningfully. The result: faster collaboration and fewer bottlenecks across the organization.

Real-time reviews and faster decisions

Stakeholder feedback often gets delayed, stretching design cycles and increasing costs. With NX X Essentials, reviews happen in real time—whether in meetings, during site visits or through AR visualizations. Stakeholders can see, edit and approve designs instantly, reducing miscommunication and speeding up approvals. Built-in AR and VR capabilities make presentations immersive, engaging, and more effective than static models.

Seamless integration with Solid Edge

Because NX X Essentials shares the Parasolid kernel with Designcenter Solid Edge, collaboration between the two environments is smooth and effortless. Designs move between systems without translation or loss of fidelity. This makes it easier to keep workflows connected and accurate. Unlike competitors that rely on different kernels or complex translations, NX X Essentials ensures consistency across your design ecosystem.

Lightweight CAM and simulation for rapid prototyping

Early-stage prototyping doesn’t need to be costly or time-consuming. With built-in CAM, simulation, additive manufacturing and AR tools, NX X Essentials enables fast iteration in a browser-based environment. Users can generate toolpaths, validate designs and prepare for 3D printing without the overhead of expensive setups. Quick validation means fewer errors, reduced costs, and more confidence in every prototype.

Smart adjustments for manufacturability

Manufacturing changes often create delays late in the design cycle. NX X Essentials makes it easy to adjust geometry on the fly by without needing expert CAD knowledge or a full desktop setup. With AI-driven edits and early constraint identification, teams can optimize designs for production, reduce waste, and accelerate time to market.

These and many other new features in Designcenter Solid Edge 2026 were unveiled during our live premiere on October 22.
