Designing the vehicle to obtain a desired sound for luxury or sport and eliminate disturbing noise requires mastering several noise sources including powertrain, HVAC, wind noise and their associated transfer paths. As the weight targets continue to go down to reduce a vehicle’s fuel consumption, the attenuation of unwanted noises in the cabin is becoming again more difficult as lighter panels are used for vehicle construction.
