Introducing NX 10

By Amy Reyes

This week we announced the latest release of Siemens’ NX™ software, NX 10.

We’ve made some exciting changes with this latest version of Siemens PLM Software’s NX software.  From feature enhancements to brand new capabilities in CAD, CAM and CAE, NX 10 has something for designers, manufacturers and analysts alike.

We’ve made a number of great enhancements that should spark the attention of simulation analysts: NX CAE features a new multiphysics environment. You can easily build fully coupled bi-directional solutions on the same mesh using the same options you’re familiar with thanks to its consistent look and feel. And this environment streamlines complex simulations, because it connects multiple solvers.

Another capabilty is extended composites simulation enabling you to create cohesive layers between plies to model the effects of delamination using the new integrated LMS Samcef solver environment. The new LMS Samcef solver environment allows you to simulate a great range of physical behaviors as well as the complex, nonlinear, nature of composite parts (such as delamination and progressive failure) giving you a complete suite of solutions for composites analysis.

Finally we”ve extended our best in class fluid modeling capabilities by providing boundary layer meshing in the finite element model giving you greater control over boundary layer mesh. This is particularly useful in external flow applications such as modeling the air flow over this Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorbike.

You can experience the new functionality of NX 10  starting in December.

Read about all of the new changes and features we’ve added based on feedback from users like you in the NX 10 documentation.
