Femap Tips & Tricks: Nonstructural Mass Regions
With finite element analysis the focus is usually on the structure of the component or assembly being analyzed, but there may be occasions where you need to take into account other nonstructural effects. For example, additional mass such as the fuel loading in an aircraft wing. While this additional mass won’t affect the structural stiffness of the model, it is present and could affect the loading and dynamic behavior.
