Realize LIVE Europe: Champions of digital transformation

Eurovision meets the BOM song
Day two of Realize LIVE Europe, the digital transformation conference, started with the crowd-sourced AI anthem to raise the roof with some techno, guitar-led and hitting the high notes, the BOM song never sounded so good – sorry Joe!

But it was the perfect introduction to Joe Bohman, Executive Vice President, PLM Products, who opened with some big numbers, 100 million signals on a plane, 500 million lines of code in a car and over 1 million BOM lines for a ship, the scale of complexity is clear! And to prepare for that Siemens has invested more than $25bn in providing the most integrated engineering solutions available.
If you aren’t exploring the boundaries of the possible, then your competitors are!
The numbers didn’t stop coming, with 20x BOM performance and 30% time and productivity saving end-to-end, the impact on customers is real, and fast.
Digital transformation is more than the numbers
Joe was clear that there is much more to digital transformation than the numbers, and the future is with more integration and more collaboration. The next exciting development focuses on a common interface throughout the digital thread backbone, ‘Home and explore’ and the use of agentic AI with human-in-the-loop to increase productive engineer time.
The most modern ship – 300 years in the making
Following Joe on the mainstage we travelled with Jose Luis Ruiz Herrer, Head of Advanced Design Tools and Processes at Navantia, on a maritime journey from the wooden sailing ships of the Spanish Armada via a passenger ferry across the Mediterranean to the most-modern warships of today’s oceans.
It was a moving journey, about an engineer-centric operation that makes the most of modern technology including AI to tackle the low value tasks.

Empower engineers to focus their talent and energy where it truly matters.
Delivering modern world-class equipment to modern navies needs the best engineers using the best technology, and Navantia clearly have both!
No rest for the Design Hack competitors
Just finishing up 24 hours of hacking, our team of students worked through the night to deliver on their digital transformation challenge. With less that 24 hours to go, the caffiene was flowing ready for the final sprint tomorrow.
Champions of digital transformation
The customer showcase in the Solutions Center covers floating, driving and flying but we didn’t expect sitting. Attendees have been immersing themselves in our technology and for some that required a seat.

You can check out the interactive exhibits, and dive into an immersive experience of your own at the Solutions Center.
There is also still time to get your technical questions answered at the Ask the Experts area, so if you have been inspired by something you heard in the breakouts drop by and find out more.

Digital transformation goes beachside
We finished day two of Realize LIVE at the beach and we asked our Chief Engineer to write this part of the blog:
Temperature: 308,15 Kelvin
Wind velocity: 28.6463232 km/h at 243° WSW
Wave frequency: 0.08 Hz
Sand particle distribution: Suboptimal
Conclusion: Acceptable conditions for recreational activities!
