Opcenter RD&L is the new platform that embeds all key functionalities for Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), product development (formulation) and specification management. It provides lightweight client applications to the user, using web technology and HTML5. This release focuses on a long list of features enhancing laboratory, specification and formulation modules. Opcenter is part of the Siemens Xcelerator™ portfolio, a comprehensive and integrated portfolio of software, hardware and services from Siemens Digital Industries Software.

Enhanced BoM search & filter functionality
Opcenter RD&L provides a central repository for all material and product specifications used company wide, including alternative recipes and plants. For each of the products in the central repository, the BoM is an important element to define the product composition and its production.
Searching across BoMs is an important functionality to search for products affected by regulatory changes, to evaluate cost optimization by exchanging materials, search for a starting point for a new product development and many more use cases.
Opcenter RD&L 2504 has enhanced the way you can refine your search with additional task keys and an enhanced search logic in the application.
The results will show you if the material is being consumed on multiple levels within a BoM, which levels these are, in which alternative BoMs and for which plant while of course considering the planned effective date of all BoM materials. This allows for even more comprehensive impact analysis with one search and faster decision making. All filter results can be exported to common formats if desired.
Declaring a component multiple times with different function
Components are the basis for automatic ingredient and component declarations, roll-ups for many different use cases and an important factor in developing new products. With Opcenter RD&L 2504 you can now automatically declare a component multiple times with a specific function. The same component could be used as an emulsifier or a thickener in your formulation and you can now decide whether to declare that component only once in the ingredient list or each time with its function listed.
By making the component – function combination a unique item, you can also perform roll-ups in label declaration and in formula workbench during development for this specific combination ensuring adherence to regulations and development targets.
APA functionality now included in Opcenter RD&L Applied Best Practices
Over 20 functionalities commonly used in demos and implementations were moved into the standard product and are now supported by product maintenance and support. Documentation can be found in Applied Best Practices of the Opcenter RD&L 2504 product documentation.
