Opcenter EX MDD 2504 along with the Mendix™ Low-code platform, which is part of the Siemens Xcelerator business platform of software, hardware and services, delivers new enhancements to improve an application’s capabilities and user experience. Using Mendix Low-code, you can access a development framework and a community of prebuilt marketplace components to easily create and deliver powerful, optimized and role-based apps.

Containerized deployments on Amazon web services (AWS) are now supported, to provide greater flexibility in choosing a cloud vendor. Enhanced tooling greatly simplifies application administration and maintenance. An expanded catalog of rich, out of the box manufacturing functionality enables rapid value realization.

Capabilities

Operational view : Mendix module

• Updates the visual work area to allow markers representing work center, spec, operation and resource
  • Including the ability to add multiple markers of the same type
• Allows drilling down from one visual work area to another (ex: factory to line to operation)
• Supports a default layout image per employee
• Automatically refresh resource markers to update the resource status
• Delivers a native mobile barcode scanning control
• Updates error handling logic when tabbing off a field

Entity relationship diagram (ERD) tool

• Tool which reads metadata file and assigns referential integrity relationships
• Provides instructions on how to visualize the ERD

Dynamic purge tool – evaluation version

• Supports purging data from the transaction database
• Can optionally archive it into a designated schema
• Provides the ability to restore the archived data
• Supports automation through Microsoft SQL Server agent jobs to enable scheduled purging and archiving operations
• Available for Microsoft SQL Server only – Note: This product feature is provided to allow users to evaluate the software’s capabilities and provide feedback, which will be considered as part of a general availability of the feature. This version will have a limited set of capabilities, and some errors may be encountered. As such, it is not intended for production use

Containerization enhancements

• Provides additional support of the following containerized deployment options:
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) with Oracle database running in a virtual machine (VM) on AWS
• Delivers container images of the 2504 release

Throughput mode for carrier maintenance

• Supports the configuration of throughput modes for carriers based on
  • Usage – increase usage count when an empty carrier is loaded
  • Quantity – track count based on the sum of the quantities of all containers loaded onto the carrier
• Configuration of whether to record carrier throughput and whether to validate carries maintenance is managed on the spec

Bill of materials (BOM) import

• Adds the ability to import a BOM through a comma separated value (CSV) import file
• Import wizard guides the user through the process
• Any product instance that does not exist will be created

RESTful API enhancements

• Extends action attributes to shop floor transactions by adding support for list item and advanced perform event attributes
• Provides the ability to manage cross-origin resource sharing (CORS) via configuration
• Enhances file uploading
• Reduces the time required to generate the entity data model (EDM)
• Improves error logging with a new user interface
• Delivers discoverability enhancements with a new type attribute and optimized Swagger schema

Additional enhancements

Updates the styling of several portal controls, including:

• Hover, pressed and focused states on the accordion control

• Adds the focus state to the breadcrumb on the manufacturing audit trail page
