December 2025 release | Designcenter NX | Download now

We’re incredibly excited to announce that the December 2025 of Designcenter NX™ software is now available to download! An ever changing market makes it incredibly important to continue to innovate, and this latest release of Designcenter NX does not disappoint.

We employ a continuous release cycle strategy, ensuring new features and products are based on your feedback. Our approach is to create industry leading solutions, all integrated in our Siemens Xcelerator portfolio. The result? The ability to develop true digital twins for your product.

New capabilities are all underpinned by our key pillars. These four pillars include:

Artificial Intelligence

Digital Threads

Immersive Engineering

The latest release of Designcenter NX isn’t an incremental update; it’s a strategic investment in digital transformation. We’re giving you the tools you need to be able compete in an AI-driven, cloud-connected, model-based future.

Without further ado, let’s take a deep dive into these new capabilities.

Designcenter X NX – Delivering a comprehensive collaboration solution

We’re living in a transformational era, where global companies are shifting toward software-as-a-service (SaaS) models. There’s a real desire in industry to reduce time to market processes, manage increasing complexity and ensure a simplified IT strategy to enable instantaneous connectivity. Our research indicates that SaaS models result in a 19% increase in productivity, and almost a 100% increase in up time and reliability.

That is why we’re continuing to invest in our Designcenter X NX strategy to create a truly collaborative environment for our users. Designcenter allows you to design for the future, whether that is from your browser or your desktop, enabling unmatched flexibility. It is the most comprehensive, uniquely scalable environment for product development, with the best-in-class product engineering software.

Introducing Live Share

Let’s take a closer look. Cloud collaboration for globally distributed teams is key as companies continue to shift toward a hybrid way of working. There’s a huge demand for companies to be able to work on product development in a real-time manner. Introducing Live Share.

Live Share enables real-time collaborative authoring, all whilst preserving industry proven security and business logic. Live Share allows multiple engineers to work simultaneously on the same assembly or part in real-time. What’s more, it works with both cloud and Teamcenter® software managed data. Live Share enables true simultaneous engineering, cutting design cycle times by 30-50% and eliminating costly delays.

AI powered automation

The power of Artificial Intelligence continues to change the competitive landscape for engineers across the globe. AI is the #1 technology investment area for manufacturers. New AI capabilities are reducing the need for repetitive tasks, accelerating design engineers, and freeing up engineers to focus on innovation over manual operations. Early adopters of AI technologies are reporting time saving on common tasks of more than 40%, which is why it is at the heart of our continuous release strategy.

Here are some of the new AI driven workflows in the latest release of Designcenter NX.

Designcenter X NX Copilot

Designcenter X NX Copilot is our engineering-focused Generative AI assistant that brings innovation to life by turning natural language into action. The new tool leverages industry best practices and Siemens knowledge to guide users through complex tasks with experienced and informative responses. With Copilot, you can ask questions in plain language, and everything will be translated into domain-specific commands, helping with everything from best design approaches to error resolution.

The benefits are real; Copilot reduces time and effort on complex tasks by streamlining workflows, making Designcenter X NX more accessible and easier to use, especially for new users seeking to unlock more functionality.

Digital Threads

Let’s take a look at Digital threads, and where we’ve focused our attention for this release.

What is a digital thread?
A digital thread is a discrete, traceable sequence of activities in the product or production life that is digitized and automated. Digital threads can range widely in scope, laying the foundation for fast navigation and flexibility through all systems of record.

New capabilities for the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) Advisor

The DFM Advisor is the design for manufacturing application that provides critical manufacturing output to a parts’ design whilst in the design phase. It’s a new application intended to identify costly and problematic manufacturing areas on any design model.

For the December 2025 release of Designcenter NX, we’ve added additional checkers to support multiple manufacturing methods for Milling checkers, Assembly checkers and Sheet Metal checkers.

New Ship Structure capabilities

Ship Structures is a highly productive and collaborative environment for modeling ship structures, With end-to-end coverage of ship design workflows across design stages, you can reuse design data for downstream production information and the generation of drawings.

New tools to enhance workflow support of production information for design, alongside significant performance improvements and AI tools has resulted in a 20-30% increase in performance for section views and updates.

Design for Sustainability in Designcenter NX

Let’s round things off with productivity gains in association with sustainability. Design for Sustainability is a purpose-built sustainability application, seamlessly integrating sustainability into product design. It enables data-driven decision making through advanced visualization and reporting to enable real-time environmental impact assessment.

What’s more, Design for Sustainability can be integrated with coatings and manufacturing to ensure all sustainability goals align with production efficiency.

The importance of immersive engineering

Next, let’s shine the spotlight on new capabilities added in association with immersive engineering. Immersive Engineering continues to change the way in which engineers create products. It’s a product for the future, enabling everyone to naturally experience digital twins in an immersive environment. A product not limited to one industry, it’s a tool that provides the only fully integrated XR CAD environment, meaning you can stay in your familiar engineering application and ensure your data remains secure. It’s an award winning solution designed by engineers, for engineers.

Live updates in immersive collaborative meetings

We’re building on our immersive engineering offering through Immersive Collaborator. Immersive Collaborator adds real value and decision making by enabling live updates and design changes in meetings. Changes made by the host of the session are communicated to other users so they can observe and interact.

Live updates are enabled for Animation Designer, Mechatronics Concept Designer (MCD), and other supported designer operations. It’s a real game-changer for simulation and design changes, particularly when identifying collision detection and needing to make prompt changes.

What does this mean for you?

These new capabilities within Designcenter NX give you everything to stay ahead of the competition. By listening to you, we’re breaking down collaborative barriers with real-time multi-user authoring, whilst accelerating design workflows by investing in game changing AI workflows.

What’s more, you’ll be able to create the most comprehensive digital twins that reduce the need for drawings, driving automation and enabling open ecosystems that connect seamlessly across your supply chains.

Jamie Tyler
Senior Marketing Coordinator - Siemens Digital Industries Software

Business Studies was Jamie's degree of choice at university, which he tailored to marketing during his final year. He's always been intrigued by the role high-quality visualization plays in product design. Jamie's first job out of university was with an SDK renderer, giving him the writing experience he needed to tailor visualization content across a range of industries. He also previously worked at Sheffield Hallam University, where he provided key marketing support to students embarking on their journey through higher education. Since joining Siemens Digital Industries Software in 2018, Jamie has built on his visualization expertise to create content across a wide breadth of disciplines. Whilst at Siemens, he has developed his expertise with Designcenter NX CAD software, alongside other Siemens Xcelerator products, including Teamcenter, NX CAM and Simcenter. It's rather fitting that Jamie's story has come full circle with regards to visualization; Jamie is heavily involved in Immersive Engineering; a new collaboration between Sony and Siemens that combines a new XR headset with Immersive Designer; a software package developed by Siemens Digital Industries Software.
