A summer of Mendix and collaboration (By DeShaun Marks)

I started my internship not knowing much about Siemens, what they worked with or the programs they used besides what Mr. Nixon told me during my interview. I did know that Mendix would be a key tool I would be learning.

Going into the internship, I was excited to learn as much as I could and meet the other interns that I would be working with.

My Siemens internship experience

My internship involved working 8am-5pm daily in an out of office.

On my first day, I met Mr Nixon and other interns in the office, and it was exciting putting faces with names. We learned about our first project that involved building Mendix applications along with other side research projects.

I was part of a two-person team making an inspection and test app for critical infrastructure management, and I was thrilled to make the most of the opportunity.

Takeways and impact

This internship was an invaluable experience that far exceeded my expectations. I’ve not only honed my technical skills in Mendix and time management, but also gained immense confidence in presenting my ideas, collaborating effectively in a large team, and understanding the full lifecycle of software development in an industrial context.

This experience has solidified my passion for industrial software and opened my eyes to the vast opportunities within this field. For anyone looking for a challenging, supportive, and impactful internship experience where you can truly contribute to shaping the future, I wholeheartedly recommend Siemens.

It’s a place where innovation thrives, and your potential is nurtured.
