What’s New in Xpedition – Schematic Capture
In the last What’s New in Xpedition blog post we reviewed the new multi-board system design features that are available in the Xpedition VX.2 series of releases. We looked at the innovative functionality for Interface Control Document (ICD) based integration between the multi-board system design and the system of systems project, along with the new capability that provides for easy access to library-based reusable circuit blocks, and the new integration with HyperLynx for multi-board simulation. In this blog, we’ll look under the hood and check out what’s new in the area of Schematic Capture. Xpedition schematic capture functionality enables product development teams to define, verify and communicate design intent throughout the PCB design flow. It provides a complete solution for design creation and reuse, along with everything needed for simulation, component selection, and library management, all in a concurrent team-based design environment.
With the VX.2 series of releases, Xpedition schematic capture delivers a new symbol editor with the same look and feel as the schematic editor. Specifically, the new symbol editor and the schematic editor have:
- The same editor engine
- The same settings, fonts, grids and color schemes
- Identical graphical rendering
The VX.2 series also delivers innovative schematic capture functionality that provides for:
- A new, smart, google-like search for parts, symbols, and properties
- An updated project integration user interface, with a new advisor for design changes that’s focused in four (4) areas: inter-tool communication, symbol data, documentation and schematics
- Display control functionality similar to the layout display control, including favorites, hide unused items, search, and schemes
- Simplified toolbars that focus on the most common design tasks
If you would like a preview of what’s new please feel free to check out the What’s New in Xpedition video, along with online demos of the highlights for each of the VX.2 releases. You can also take a quick tour of Xpedition Enterprise to get a great overview of all the functionality that Xpedition has to offer.
