Realizing reliable microelectronic systems

EU regulations demand electronics products to be repairable and reliable for over a decade. However, it’s challenging to achieve reliable electronic systems due to their increasing complexity and continuous miniaturization, with about 55% of microelectronic failures due to temperature-induced degradation. In the EU-funded research project MIRELAI, Siemens and imec, the world’s leading independent semiconductor R&D hub, investigate physics-based and AI-driven methods to understand microelectronic systems and improve their reliability.
