Convergent Technology Selected for the D3D 30

For those who aren’t familiar, Develop3D is a print and online magazine that has been covering innovations in the product development space since 2008. This year, Develop3D has selected a set of thirty technologies that they think are important in 2020, called the D3D 30. We are proud to say that Convergent Technology from Siemens made that list.

Convergent Technology is built-in to both NX and Solid Edge and allows designers to easily use modelling techniques on multiple geometry types at once. This means that designers are not restricted to using facet manipulation tools on facet bodies and normal CAD design tools on boundary representation (B-rep) bodies. Instead, designers can now use normal CAD design tools on both types of geometry, saving time and effort, and bringing the learning curve down for companies who have a mix of geometries.

This is especially important for additive manufacturing as many operations, like topology optimization for example, result in facet bodies that must then be integrated with the rest of the design geometry for printing. Convergent Technology makes this process easy and straightforward.

We’d like to send out a heartfelt “Thank you!” to Develop3D for including Convergent Technology in their D3D 30 for 2020. We are motivated to keep innovating, not just for awards like this, but because we want our customers to have the best tools available at their disposal so they can continue to create amazing products.

I've been with Siemens for over two decades, during which time I've met with many customers who also became friends, nurtured products through their lifecycle, learned and forgot more than I care to admit, reinvented myself several times over, and had a ton of fun in the process.
