The first Cambodian engineering school to train industrial design for Industry 4.0 powered by Siemens Digital Industries Software
The Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) starts its official Computer-Aided Design (CAD) course training using Solid Edge licensed software for its 2023 semester. The course is in the Department of Industrial and Mechanical Engineering (GIM), and STEAMING Cambodia is the strategic partner who will support the training of 150 third year mechanical engineering students. This Solid Edge course takes 24 hours and once completed, students will have learned industrial design skills including 2D drafting, 3D design, assembly and basic simulation, completed an engineering design project, and earned a Solid Edge certification at the Associate and Professional levels. These industrial design skills prepare the students for current job markets in a wide variety of industries, such as automotive, machinery, consumer products, plastic products, food processing, mold and die design and manufacturing, and mechanical parts design.
The academic licensing software that ITC is now using in its mechanical engineering department is the same technology that companies worldwide depend on to design some of today’s most sophisticated products.
ITC has been granted software by Siemens Digital Industries Software, and is currently being supported by STEAMING Cambodia in the training of more than 10 lecturers and over 100 students in the Department of Industrial and Mechanical Engineering.
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading global provider of engineering, manufacturing and electronics software. Besides the Solid Edge academic licensed software, ITC also received NXTM and SimcenterTM software. NXTM software is a leading integrated solution for computer-aided design, manufacturing, and engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE). SimcenterTM provides engineers with the best predictive simulation and testing application. SimcenterTM provides solutions in fluid and thermal simulation, physical testing, systems simulation, mechanical simulation, electromagnetics simulation, structural simulation, integration solutions, and autonomy solutions.
“ITC is grateful to Siemens Digital Industries Software and STEAMING Cambodia for their commitment to preparing the next generation of engineering talent. This technology will give our students valuable hands-on experience with industry-preferred software helping prepare them for an exciting engineering career in the future,” said H.E Dr. Po Kimtho, Director of ITC. “Our students stand to benefit significantly from this valuable partnership with Siemens Digital Industries Software. Hands-on experience in the classroom with industry-preferred software from Siemens should give our students a distinct advantage as they begin a career in manufacturing, design and engineering.”
“Developing the next generation of digital talent requires real-world experience with industry-preferred software, which can help prepare students for the digital enterprise. Through our partnership with the Institute of Technology of Cambodia, Siemens Digital Industries Software is helping empower the next generation of designers, engineers and manufacturers,” said Alex Teo Swee Guan, Vice President of Siemens Digital Industries Software Pte. Ltd. “ITC’s partnership with Siemens Digital Industries Software and STEAMING Cambodia brings industry-leading and best practice curriculum, training and certification to their engineering education programs.”
