Startup spotlight: Boxxy excels at Stage Two and Siemens bootcamp

By Sophia Jin

Startups are the future of innovation in technology. Siemens aims to empower startups as they stand at the forefront of innovation. Since 2021, Siemens Xcelerator for Startups has been a proud sponsor of Stage Two, the first pan-European competition for promising startups emerging out of leading European universities. Each year, 50 high-potential startups are nominated from university-affiliated entrepreneurship centers across 21 different countries to compete at Stage Two. In 2022, Siemens supported a number of winners from Stage Two, including Boxxy. Learn more about Boxxy’s participation in Stage Two and how Siemens supports their mission! Special thanks to Boxxy’s CEO and co-founder Robert Zettervall for providing an interview in support of this blog post.

What is Boxxy?

Boxxy was created to address the unique challenges that have arisen with the increased popularity of grocery delivery services. In order to modernize the grocery delivery process, they developed proprietary temperature lockers that are placed in convenient locations close to home. Boxxy’s lockers allow users to utilize their grocery services 24/7 without missing a delivery. Furthermore, streamlined drop-off times and better resource utilization will lead to more sustainable deliveries. Along with their grocery lockers, Boxxy has also since expanded into offering innovative access control solutions. Boxxy offers the market’s most modern access control system for your property that emphasizes user-friendliness, security, and sustainability. Their wireless solution, lack of reliance on third-party providers, and use of mobile keys allows for maximum cost-efficiency, accessibility, and security. With Boxxy, you can experience accessibility and convenience like never before from the comfort of your own home.

Boxxy participates in Stage Two

As one of the startups invited to participate in the Stage Two competition, Boxxy has proved that they were one of the best early-stage startup teams from their university, the Stockholm School of Economics. Furthermore, as one of the winners of Stage Two, Boxxy has demonstrated their potential in innovativeness, scalability, and impact on the world of tomorrow. As winners of the competition, they were able to take advantage of the opportunities that Stage Two has to offer, including a bootcamp provided by Siemens. In his interview, Robert discussed how valuable it was to connect and learn from other startups in the community and bigger companies during his time at Stage Two and the Siemens bootcamp. He explained how providing spaces for startups and companies to interact can help startups benefit from the resources of bigger companies, but in turn also help bigger companies benefit from the innovative ideas of startups.

Siemens provides a bootcamp for Stage Two winners

Stage Two includes a number of prizes, including €2.2M+ in total investment prizes and €75K+ in total cash prizes. In partnering with Stage Two, Siemens also provided a three-day Bootcamp as a prize for the competition. As one of the startups that participated in the bootcamp, Boxxy received entrepreneurship training and business development coaching from Siemens Innovation Ecosystem, low-coding with Mendix, and product design and development training with Solid Edge. By offering resources like the bootcamp, Siemens hopes to help startups turn their visions from ideas into realities. As Boxxy’s co-founder, Robert mentioned that one of the biggest challenges for startups is thinking about how to actually develop a product that can fit into the needs of the competitive market. Opportunities like Stage Two and the Siemens bootcamp can help startups learn from a larger network and expand their companies to continue producing innovative solutions that can be put on the market quicker.

I think these kinds of programs are really valuable because in some sense, there’s a misconception between startups and bigger companies that we’re so different. But I think we have a lot of stuff to leverage from each other. So there’s definitely something for both parties to gain from meeting up and learning from each other. Creating these kinds of forums enables this interaction.
