ON-Track Technology Strengthens Partnership with Siemens Process Preparation

As a long-time user of Siemens Process Preparation for over a decade, ON-Track Technology has recently expanded its investment by incorporating the Siemens Process Preparation Stencil Engineering Tool and the Valor Parts Library (VPL)—a manufacturer-MPN-driven parts geometry library.
This recent addition enhances ON-Track Technology’s well-established suite of Siemens Process Preparation SMT Preparation and Programming Engineering tools. Siemens Process Preparation remains a core component of ON-Track Technology’s PCBA dataset processing, facilitating a standardized workflow that merges and normalizes PCBA data for SMT line programming.
The company has also implemented custom API integrations to seamlessly link its internally developed ERP/MRP/MES systems. This integration streamlines BOM data sharing, enhances automation, and accommodates last-minute customer changes, which are reflected in the Siemens Process Preparation database. Essentially, Siemens Process Preparation has functioned as a ‘Product Lifecycle Management’ (PLM) tool, making it a cornerstone of ON-Track Technology’s internal capabilities.
The latest investment further strengthens ON-Track Technology’s ability to leverage the Valor Parts Library (VPL). This tool utilizes manufacturer-MPN-based geometric data to enable virtual PCBA assembly reviews, ensuring part compatibility with pads and verifying BOM components visually. Additionally, the AutoGeneration rule engine allows the rapid creation of new SMT part packages from standardized source geometries, supporting virtual SMT parts development.

In addition, ON-Track Technology has adopted the industry-leading Siemens Process Preparation Stencil Engineering Tool to optimize stencil creation—a critical factor in SMT assembly. This tool ensures first-time-right stencils, provides accurate paste quantity estimates per PCBA, and reduces costs associated with stencil re-spins and SMT line downtime. It also improves SMT NPI ramp-up quality and helps integrate lessons learned into future stencil designs.
“We traditionally relied on our stencil suppliers to recommend changes. However, stencil re-spins were a recurring issue due to complex designs, and we recognized the need to take full control of this critical SMT tooling to achieve better soldering outcomes. Additionally, intellectual property (IP) was sometimes lost due to manual stencil tweaks, and lessons learned were not always implemented in new designs. With our investment in Siemens Stencil Engineering and Valor Parts Library, we can now fully control the stencil engineering process. The stencil tool was easy to learn, and we were up and running quickly, thanks to a guided, wizard-based workflow. Our first stencil was engineered in under 10 minutes, and we can’t wait to get it on our SMT lines,” said Daniel Lin, Managing Director & Technical Manager at ON-Track Technology.
