Advance your project planning process

I am excited to show you some advancements you can add to your project planning process in Teamcenter Program and Project Management. These new additions were introduced in the Teamcenter Active Workspace releases 5.0, 5.1, and upcoming 5.2! We’re continuing to deliver you best-in-class program planning and project execution capabilities inside Teamcenter Active Workspace, the best-in-class PLM, with easy, intuitive, access to your data. Keep on reading to learn how you can plan and execute your work efficiently and effectively.

View workload of your resource using the resource load view

With Active Workspace 5.0,  you can view resource load for the members inside the schedule. You can select the “load %” cell to view the assigned tasks for a day, for each user. Optionally, you can arrange the assigned tasks table to either at the bottom or right using the interface, you can even choose to turn it off.

Quickly add a project or an event to the Timeline

With Active Workspace 5.1 and Program Planning, you can quickly add or delete a project, subproject, and event on the program timeline. When you select program, the add plan command will add a project. When you select project, the command will add a subproject.  Based on your selection, the add event command will add an event to a plan item with today’s date as the planned date.

Quickly change the event timing by dragging the event on the program timeline

With Active Workspace 5.1, you can easily drag the events on the program timeline to change the planned date.

Easily view event details inside the timeline

For a selected plan or event on the timeline, you can now use the ‘summary view’ command on the toolbar to show respective sub-locations as tabs in the summary view. The system maintains the summary tab context as per the timeline event selection. This is made available from Active Workspace 5.1.

Expand and collapse the Gantt to view tasks below the selected task

There is no need to spend time expanding the structure one by one to view the full schedule.  As a schedule user, you can use the ‘Expand below’ and ‘Collapse Below’ commands on Gantt to expand or collapse the task structure below your selection. This is made available from Active Workspace 5.1.

View task properties on the Gantt view

As a Schedule user, you can quickly view key task information inside Schedule Gantt using the ‘Task Information’ command from the Gantt toolbar.  You can view task status, task name, resource assigned information, and the task dates. This is made available from Active Workspace 5.1.

Efficiently navigate the program timeline using a Go-To date

At times you have a big program on a timeline, and you are interested in viewing the timeline for a certain period or a date. With Active Workspace 5.2 Program Planning, as a program manager, you can navigate the program timeline using a ‘Go To’ command. When you enter the desired date in the date widget and click go, then the system scrolls the program timeline view to that date period.

Quickly find an event or a deliverable instance in the program timeline

Similarly, you may need to search timeline by event name to have a quick view of the events of interest. With Active Workspace 5.2 Program Planning, as a program manager, you can find an event or a deliverable instance with their name in the program timeline using the ‘find’ command.

When you select an event or a deliverable instance from the ‘Results’ list, the system will highlight the respective event in the timeline. The event summary table updates based on your selection in the timeline. The field supports the wildcard character and the partial text entries.

Toggle the schedule Gantt to display the tree table with or without the Gantt

With Active Workspace 5.2, as a schedule user, you can toggle the schedule Gantt to display the tree table with or without the Gantt using the show or hide Gantt Chart command. You can have 4 combinations in general, a Gantt tree without a Gantt Chart, a Gantt tree with a Gantt Chart, a Gantt tree with a summary but without the Gantt chart, and a Gantt tree with a summary and a Gantt chart.

Project Planning Process Summary

With more features and improved usability, you can now do more with Program Planning and Schedule Manager applications. Be confident in your project planning process by planning and executing projects with Teamcenter Active Workspace.
