Announcing Teamcenter 11: What’s New

By TangriR

Editor’s note:  Since publication of this blog post, there have been more releases of Teamcenter. Please read the On Target for 2016: What’s New in Teamcenter article for an overview of Teamcenter 11.2.2, or refer to the 11.2.2 fact sheet below for details on each solution across the portfolio.

It is my pleasure to introduce you to Teamcenter 11. With this release, we introduce a new platform update with enhancements across the product portfolio. As you have seen in the past few releases, my team has been committed to providing new solutions and updated capabilities faster than ever before. Teamcenter 11 introduces a platform for growth to launch your implementation into the future focused on business processes leading to tangible return-on-investment.

For IT teams, especially Teamcenter administrators, the most important feature for you is a new set of powerful administration tools. Teamcenter 11 makes it easier than ever to manage and maintain your Teamcenter deployments. Review and troubleshoot configurations of your deployments, or even compare multiple deployments with the new data documentation report, data comparison report, and data import tools. The new access manager tool also enables you to automate testing of access manager rules and organization of groups, roles, and users in your Teamcenter environment.

To see what else is new in Teamcenter 11, let’s take a walk through the portfolio.

Start with PLM

Schedule Manager has been dramatically enhanced to help you plan, manage, and execute your projects with maximum efficiency. Do you have large, complex projects with thousands of tasks, constraints, and dependencies? You can handle it all with major enhancements behind the scenes that deliver dramatic improvements in performance and scalability.

With Teamcenter 11, multi-site workflow execution is now easier than ever. Enjoy automated synchronization of global change management between remote users and the home site.

Extend the Value

Supplier Integration self-service.png

Last year we introduced the Teamcenter Supplier Collaboration solution to help you address the challenges in collaborating across your global supply chain. With Teamcenter 11, we offer even more supplier collaboration capabilities, such as supplier self-service to help suppliers securely get the right background data from Teamcenter in order to do their job efficiently and to help you reduce your administrative costs and improve product time to market.

Transform Your Business

To advance your model-based systems design process, Teamcenter 11 also brings enhancements for managing Simulink models, enabling better integration with the product development process. Now open and save models to the Teamcenter product structure with associated files like sub-blocks or parameters. New wizards make re-using library data a breeze, with subsystems saved as unique objects, linked subsystem and model revisions, and automatically generated viewable object libraries. Support for an application programming interface (API) now lets you access and export models and related data for re-use in other programs. Model management has never been easier.

Explore the PLM Platform

Part numbering just got smarter with Teamcenter 11. A new, intelligent part numbering feature means part number generation can now be automated and standardized to your preferences. Define your requirements and configure your standards, and let your users choose only from valid values. Part numbers are automatically generated, so you never have to worry about non-compliance again.

Teamcenter Rapid Start Install.png

If you’re interested in right-size product data management (PDM) with Teamcenter Rapid Start, which provides preconfigured PDM that is ideally suited for small to medium businesses, version 11 allows you to leverage Teamcenter flexibility with a common install kit for both Teamcenter and Teamcenter Rapid Start deployments. At any time, you can easily extend your Teamcenter Rapid Start PDM deployment to the full PLM capabilities and additional Teamcenter solutions. You can also add-on the Active Workspace client for a simple web interface tailored to the specific needs of PDM users.

With these enhancements and more across the Teamcenter portfolio, I know you’ll like what you see in Teamcenter 11! To learn more, read the attached What’s New in Teamcenter 11.2 fact sheet (see pdf below). And take a look at earlier blogs on Service Pack 10.1.4, Service Pack 10.1.3, and Service Pack 10.1.2 for details on those releases!

Oh, there is one more thing I want to talk to you about before I conclude this post, if you want to take PLM user experience to the next level and complement your Teamcenter 11 deployment with Active Workspace, you can do that before the end of the year with Active Workspace 3.0!
