Companies are redefining their design 4 compliance efforts to achieve product sustainability and bring compliant, winning products to the market.

Follow over 300 companies that joined for the free webinar that went live on Wednesday, April 18th, to hear about enforcement actions and product withdrawals across Europe for non-compliance with RoHS, REACH and POPs substance restrictions.

Did you know:

  • Product testing by the Swedish Chemicals Agency (KEMI) in 2016 found that 37% of low-price electrical and electronic products were non-compliant to RoHS and/or POPs substance restrictions. KEMI reported 30 companies to prosecutors for enforcement action.

  • Product testing by 7 countries across Europe in 2016 found that 24% of USB cables were non-compliant to RoHS substance restrictions. Product testing by KEMI in Sweden found that 40% of USB cables also contained REACH substances of very high concern (SVHCs) which companies had not disclosed to consumers.

  • The high percentage of non-compliant cables in 2016 is surprising in view of the enforcement action taken against Sony in 2001. In December 2001 Dutch customs impounded 1.3 million PlayStation One consoles and 800,000 accessory packs worth over USD $162 million because the cables contained up to 20 times the permitted levels of cadmium.
