Software Tool Qualification for the Development of Santas Newest Sleigh

11 December 2024

Safety is very important at the North Pole.

This is why Santa has decided to adhere to EASA/FAA rules for the development of his newest sleigh.

Aurora Sleighworks, the company to develop the sleigh, is using several software tools to simplify the work for all the sleigh’s cool new features.

Some of the tools’ development and verification results are not verified manually or by other software tools.

Consequently, these software tools need to be qualified, e.g., according to RTCA DO-330 Software Tool Qualification Considerations.

Luckily, Kevin Schmiechen from the Technical University of Munich has recently published a Polarion project template and extensions that allow to perform tool qualification according to Tool Qualification Level 5 of DO-330.

This project template is a modification of the ISO26262 Tool Qualification Kit published by Siemens.
