What’s New in CAM for NX 2512: Integrated Work Holding Device Management

Note: This blog is part of a small series of blogs deep-diving into new capabilities introduced in NX CAM 2512.

One feature introduced in CAM for NX 2512 is the new Integrated Work Holding Device Management system, a significant advancement in Machine Powered Programming.

What is Integrated Work Holding Device Management?

The new integrated work holding device management system implements comprehensive work holder creation and export capabilities directly within Machine Tool Builder. The enables users to build and maintain consistent fixture libraries efficiently. The system also provides automatic placement and alignment features in CAM setups, dramatically reducing manual intervention.

A key enhancement is the synchronized graphics between CAM workpiece and Machine Setup, ensuring accurate simulation results. This integration eliminates the need for external workarounds while maintaining precise control over fixture configurations.

How does it work?

Users can utilize the machine setup configurator to access the work holder library for retrieving the desired work holder device. The work piece can then be positioned into the work holder with simple drag-and-drop interactions. This establishes a connection between the work part and the work holder such that the movement of the holder will also move the part.

Why is this important?

These improvements transform how users manage work holding devices, significantly boosting programming productivity while ensuring reliable simulation results. You can now create, manage, and simulate work holding devices effortlessly.

By automatically placing and aligning fixtures in CAM setups you reduce the manual effort required. Furthermore, synchronized graphics ensure precise simulation feedback and eliminate the need for external workarounds.

  • Rapid work holder creation and export capabilities
  • Automatic alignment and positioning in CAM setups
  • Synchronized graphics for precise simulation feedback

The Bottom Line: Integrated work holding device management streamlines the fixture creation and programming workflow, significantly boosting programming productivity and ensuring reliable simulation results.
