Presenter’s User Role: Siemens PLM Software Employee

Abstract:  Aerospace & Defense companies are striving to bridge the gaps between product designers, manufacturing engineers and shop floor production. The combination of a complex product and production processes, along with ever increasing shrinking delivery times, mandates the usage of dedicated engineering tools, which will enable manufacturing engineers to easily collaborate with their colleagues in the product design and the production groups.  The session will focus on the high level use cases within the manufacturing planning phase of a program – design for manufacturing, early process planning and detailed process planning.  Siemens PLM SW supports this need with set of value-added capabilities, all tightly linked to Teamcenter for virtual verification, which enable MEs to ‘shift left’ in the program timeline, performing manufacturing planning studies earlier in the design cycle, when the ability to make changes to product and process are still affordable. Specific new capabilities in our offering, such as integrating PLM to shop floor execution systems, supporting PMI (Product Manufacturing Information) throughout the entire engineering lifecycle, riveting and fasteners management and simulation, and detailed time analysis will be presented.  A new holistic approach to composite part manufacturing process planning, optimization and tracking, which is based on integration between Teamcenter Manufacturing and Plataine’s solution, will be presented. This includes also the Plataine’s Internet of Things (IoT) platform, which leverages networked RFID and mobility technologies to track mobile assets on the production floor, and drive optimized action in both Engineering and Manufacturing decision-cycles using proprietary software algorithms.
