IMTS 2018: Experience the digital twin of CNC machining production

By Stephanie Aldrete

Siemens will present in-depth use cases for the digital twin of CNC manufacturing at IMTS.

We will present the latest technology to perform highly-accurate machine tool simulation driven by the genuine SINUMERIK Virtual NC Kernel (VNCK) and operated with the Virtual Human Machine Interface (VHMI).  All of this technology enables comprehensive simulation with NX CAM software using the same G-code that drives the CNC machine. This works equally for operations programmed in ShopMill/ ShopTurn on the SINUMERIK CNC controller.

By digitalizing part manufacturing, machine shops achieve unique benefits, including the ability to

  • Maximize machine uptime

  • Reduce setup and changeover time

  • Eliminate errors with G-code driven simulation

  • Optimize machining operations

  • Virtually teach and train machine operators
