Engineering.com spotlights Siemens: leading the way for digital transformation in 2025

In a recent Engineering.com article featuring Siemens Zvi Feuer, Senior Vice President, Digital Manufacturing Software Solutions, discusses the exciting advancements in digital manufacturing for 2025 and beyond. Feuer shares his insights on the future of digital technologies, such as digital threads that unify production workflows, next-generation cloud-based solutions and the transformative impact of artificial intelligence (AI) across the entire design-to-manufacturing process.

Engineering.com features Feuer’s fascinating industry expertise and how companies – from start-ups to small job shops and large OEMS – use digitalization to simulate and optimize their products and processes.

Industrial artificial intelligence (AI) helping power efficient part manufacturing

Advances in artificial intelligence (AI) are empowering manufacturers to analyze vast amounts of shop floor data, providing actionable insights to enhance efficiency and reduce errors. Feuer references how manufacturers can implement industrial AI to automate complex tasks, accelerate efficiencies and improve production quality. For example, NX X Manufacturing introduces the artificial intelligence (AI) Chat Copilot, which lays the groundwork to transform part manufacturing with industry best practices. The natural language inputs enable manufacturers to execute complex commands and helps new users to navigate the software swiftly while boosting efficiency.

Siemens CAD/CAM software powers the end-to-end digital thread

Siemens has long been at the forefront of digital transformation, offering integrated solutions that create an end-to-end digital thread across the manufacturing process. For example, manufacturers use Siemens advanced CAD/CAM software to extend their digital capabilities from design to engineering. This allows manufacturers to accelerate faster turnaround times and achieve greater flexibility, ultimately paving the way for the next generation of high-performance products. As explained by Feuer, “You need close proximity between product development and manufacturing, and the connection between the two is critical.”

A shining example of this approach was at the most recent largest manufacturing technology show, IMTS 2024, where Siemens showcased an end-to-end digital thread, from identifying potential improvements through simulation and all the way to making and installing the new component. The end result was developing and manufacturing a transmission housing built to handle high forces, reduce noise, and minimize vibration by digitally connecting design, 3D printing, CNC machining, quality inspection, and assembly.

Tailored cloud solutions for part manufacturing

Cloud solutions also play a key role by taking manufacturing companies to new heights. Manufacturers can experience seamless software deployment, configuration, and unparalleled productivity. For example, Siemens released NX X Manufacturing, a powerful software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, that combines industry-leading computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) with the flexibility, security, and scalability of cloud technologies.

Cloud is a major enabler that helps provide our customers with better service while reducing their costs. This enables them to do digitalization in a big way and to better collaborate with their customers.”
