While Michael studied Philosophy at university, Michael comes from a family background of engineers and engineering. He’s taken an interest in engineering from an early age and as a competitive cyclist, has a particular focus on the application of mechanical engineering, material science and design simulation to sports technology. Michael’s first job out of university was at a bicycle manufacturer, where he got his first experience writing about product design and engineering within the sports industry. This later became a specialism while Michael was working as a freelance copywriter. He has also worked at Sheffield Hallam University, where he wrote about a variety of their advanced engineering research projects and industry collaborations, among other things. Since joining Siemens Digital Industry Software in 2023, he is now back in the family business of engineering. While at Siemens, he has developed his expertise with Designcenter NX CAD software, along with other Siemens Xcelerator products across the PLM, CAM and simulation domains such as Teamcenter, NX CAM and Simcenter. As well as producing software demonstrations for videos such as the yearly Designcenter NX Premiere, Michael uses Designcenter NX to design and model various 3D-printed DIY projects around the home. He's currently working towards Designcenter NX certification through the Siemens Xcelerator Academy.
