Meet Future Engineer David Paulk
Edison2’s Brad Jaeger noted in our interview that he was “blown away” with the Solid Edge skills of the Auburn University FSAE engineers. One of those engineers you already met – Michael Nunnelly. The other is David Paulk, in the center of the picture above. David was at Solid Edge University to present on the use of Solid Edge in a FSAE car.
At the event, he had the chance to network with some potential future employers. He says he’s always known he wanted to be an engineer. As a kid, he took toys apart before playing with them. (That seems to be a theme with some of you!)
He shares in this video how he addressed design challenges of this year’s FSAE car with Solid Edge.

David and others at the event noted that real-world design challenges put students ahead since often they would not be exposed to design tools, project management and design for manufacturability until their junior or senior year. David and Michael’s presentation was very well attended. I think the real-life engineers want to go back to school so they can participate in some of these real-world challenges!
