Edison2, 100 MPG Car, Keynotes the Solid Edge ST4 Event
We’re extremely please to announce the keynote speakers for the Solid Edge ST4 Global Launch Event June 15-16, 2011 in Huntsville, Al – Winners of the $5 Million Progressive Automotive X Prize –Edison2
By attending the Solid Edge ST4 event, you can hear how Virginia-based automotive innovation company, Edison2, combined light weight and low aerodynamic drag to design a 4-passenger vehicle that achieved 100 miles per gallon. The car travels 200 miles on a tank or charge while meeting stringent performance, handling and emissions standards, all while achieving more than 100 MPGe.
Chief of Design Ron Mathis, a long-time Solid Edge user, and Brad Jaeger, R&D director (also the test driver and a mechanical engineer from Vanderbilt University), will be on hand with the car to discuss the competition, the role Solid Edge played and the impact on the future of low-mass cars in the U.S. automotive market.

Learn how Edison2, with Solid Edge (they used ST3), plans to innovate and demonstrate how light-car principals can improve the efficiency for electric hybrid, diesel and natural gas systems to fit a wide array of consumer demand for SUVs, sedans and sports and utility vehicles.
PBS NewsHour profiled Edison2 back in September 2010 when they were awarded $5 Million in the mainstream class. Mainstream class entries were required to seat at least four passengers, have four wheels, and have a minimum 200 mile range. PBS recently replayed the clip, you can watch it here:
The winning #98 car will join other history-makers at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Mich according to a recent article. The car will be part of an exhibit on automobile history. The museum also houses the first Ford Mustang, the 15 millionth Model T and famous race cars.
