PLM Connection 2009 Podcast – Dan Staples

When we started this blog nearly a year ago, one of the objectives was to connect you with some of the personalities in our company. This week’s podcast is an interview with – Dan Staples. Dan heads up development for Solid Edge – and blogs here from time to time.





For those of you who don’t know him, I have to tell you he is a pretty amazing guy. Dan is very smart and engaging – and humble. His ability to patiently explain technology & software is uncanny.  Last year my mom heard him speak and told me afterwards that now she understands what CAD is all about (so I guess Dan is a better communicator than me ).

Last week Dan was interviewed along with Bill McClure about the Leadership award by the CAD Society.  It was pretty interesting to hear the Solid Edge history over the last 16 years. As much as things change, the leadership has stayed the same. (The interview was for CADCAMNet. I’ll post a link when the article is live).

The other thing that impresses me about Dan is how closely he works with our customers. He is usually the one directly responding to questions and issues raised on our Solid Edge newsgroups.
