Making it real: Siemens and AWS showcase Industrial AI at this year’s CES

At this year’s CES, Siemens’ vision for the future became a powerful reality.

And what is that vision? It’s a vision where data, artificial intelligence (AI) and software-defined automation come together for unprecedented flexibility, seamless optimization and continuous improvement for industries across the globe.

This vision was on full display at our booth “Blueprint for Better.” Quite simply, Siemens is laying the foundation to allow customers the ability to experience Industrial AI, the comprehensive digital twin and the Industrial Metaverse. Among our many goals is to help drive sustainable agriculture, clean water, renewable textiles and smart cities for a cleaner, brighter world.

This vision. This ambition. This passion was at the heart of our presence at this year’s CES – the premier world event where technology leaders and innovators come to watch, listen and learn.

The growing demand for Industrial AI

No question, Industrial AI is a game-changer that promises to send serious ripple effects across all industries.

Our involvement in Industrial AI and activities with partners such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), was seen everywhere. At the Siemens booth, attendees got to see our latest Industrial AI capabilities within our Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of software and services and how customers can stay competitive, resilient and at the top of their game in this increasingly complex world.

Things got off to a great start with our Siemens Media Day event which happened the day before CES officially opened to the public. In a keynote-style session, Siemens leaders Dr. Peter Koerte and Tony Hemmelgarn, presented news and innovations from across Siemens with numerous customers and guests.

Our Media Day set the stage for CES as we welcomed media representatives from around the world into a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Siemens and AWS – a top attraction at the show

The Siemens and AWS collaboration has been making inroads in cloud computing and SaaS offerings for years. Lately, with the proliferation of GenAI, we have taken our combined technologies to an entirely new level.

At the show, Siemens and AWS announced how immersive engineering and artificial intelligence enable the Industrial Metaverse. With AWS and Sony, along with the Siemens ecosystem, we made this vision a reality by demonstrating multiple transformative solutions.

We highlighted how GenAI applications, created by integrating Amazon Bedrock with Mendix and Teamcenter X harness the power of GenAI by connecting disparate data sources and quickly delivering solutions for our customers. A prime example is how Siemens and AWS worked together for customer, Vivix, a Brazilian glass manufacturing company.

Another top draw is how Siemens and AWS demonstrated the Simcenter ADAS (autonomous driving) solution.

By integrating AWS GenAI capabilities into our Mendix low-code platform we showed how easy it is for customers of all sizes to build and scale GenAI applications of their own.

Siemens presentations at the AWS Booth

The AWS Booth Theater was the place to be. We presented our solutions and technologies together in front of an engaged, hands-on audience. Not only did we present, but we also held masterclasses for those individuals who wanted to delve deeper into the technology.

Stage Presentation #1 – Tuesday, January 7th
“Get ready for the SDV with PAVE360 digital twin”

Ashish Sethi, Technical Director PAVE360 at Siemens Digital Industries Software, talks about how Siemens and AWS are enabling third-party software developers the ability to create value-add software for the software-defined vehicle (SDV).

More about Siemens PAVE360: Our PAVE360 initiative puts a virtual car on every engineer’s desk. It allows teams to start earlier and develop faster when it comes to hardware/software co-design. The PAVE360 ecosystem also includes a powerful digital twin to help engineers realize the software-defined vehicle.

At CES, the PAVE360 ecosystem was seen at a variety of booths. Active PAVE360 partners included:

  • TATA Technologies
  • Cognizant
  • Elektrobit
  • Wipro

Each booth highlighted a different aspect within the PAVE360 ecosystem.

Stage Presentation #2 – Wednesday, January 8th
“Transforming the automotive industry in the Industrial Metaverse”

Gerhard Kress, Senior Vice President Xcelerator Portfolio and Digital Business at Siemens, discusses how Siemens and AWS, working with the software and services available inside Siemens Xcelerator, enabled client Workhorse the ability to create immersive engineering solutions.

Siemens and AWS announce new
Siemens for Startups program

A key aspect of showcasing the Siemens and AWS collaboration at this year’s CES was announcing our new “Siemens for Startups” program. We integrated Siemens for Startups with the AWS Startup program to provide startups access to industrial software, the AWS cloud infrastructure, AWS credits, multiple business and development resources and access to the AWS Activate program for technical and go-to-market support.

Through the new Siemens for Startups program, innovators of any size now have access to intelligent ecosystems and technologies to turn their big ideas into world-changing innovations.

During our Media Day event, the Siemens for Startups program was officially announced on the big stage. Listen in as Peter Koerte unveils the new program.

A Siemens press release announcing the new Siemens for Startups program was also issued.

At the AWS booth: experience the thrill of immersive engineering

In collaboration with the Sony Corporation, Siemens and AWS announced a new solution for immersive engineering that brings together Siemens NX software for product engineering with a breakthrough head-mounted display from Sony to enable content creation for the Industrial Metaverse.

Our new immersive engineering toolset brings the power of mixed reality to the product engineering and manufacturing community, enabling high-fidelity mixed reality and 3D-focused collaboration. Using customer examples from the automotive industry, we demonstrated how an immersive digital world, robust data and the Siemens comprehensive digital twin combine to enable fast and reliable engineering decisions.

All of this made possible by Siemens Xcelerator portfolio of software and services, the very foundation of the Industrial Metaverse.

A few of our booth presentations:

“Revolutionary Immersive Engineering:
Siemens and Sony transform 3D CAD design”

“Siemens Teamcenter AI Chat:
Revolutionizing engineering data access”

“Revolutionizing ADAS development:
