Getting started with Solid Edge Fundamentals
Our free, 3-day Solid Edge Fundamentals course will provide you with a core understanding of the basics of Solid Edge® software for computer-aided design (CAD). The course will cover everything from sketching, part modeling, assembly, and engineering drawing creation to basic simulation. The training is designed to help educators (especially those who are new to Solid Edge) use and explore the software to feel comfortable engaging students in STEM learning in the classroom.
Excite and engage students with Siemens Engineering Design
Building on the basic principles and concepts introduced during the Solid Edge Fundamentals course, our Siemens Engineering Design course provides an introduction to the engineering design process and how it is used to solve real-world design problems. Throughout this week-long course, participants work directly with Siemens Project-Based Learning curriculum, which allows for deep exploration of different situations. Working together with your peers, you’ll have the opportunity to plan, organize and conduct research to develop distinct solutions.
In parallel, Siemens instructors will guide all participants through the coursework and share best practices for how to deliver the same instruction to students. “Enabling activities” during the course provide the required knowledge and skills “just in time”, so no participants feel left behind.
After successful completion of the Solid Edge Fundamentals and Siemens Engineering Design courses, we encourage you to consider progressing to the next level: prepare to introduce students to Manufacturing and Automation, or our newest class Mechatronics and the Internet of Things (IoT).
Prerequisites
Please install the Academic Edition of Siemens Solid Edge 2021 (or later version) before attending the class. To download a free version of the software for educators, visit www.siemens.com/plm/teachers.

“I would rate a 10 for the Solid Edge Fundamental class. The instructor did an awesome job. It was a lot to cover in such a short period of time (at least for a total beginner like me), and Doug was great in keeping us all together and productively moving forward. I thought the material was good, but what was outstanding was Doug’s ability to present it in an exceptional and engaging way.”
