Polarion Displaces DOORS® in $1.4 Million (US) Deal with CNH Industrial

If you’ve had a nice chunk of fresh bread lately, there’s a good chance the grain it was made from was harvested by machinery built by Polarion’s newest customer: CNH Industrial (NYSE: CNH).

CNH Industrial, a Fortune 100 company created from the merger of Fiat Industrial and CNH Global, is a major industrial enterprise; a global leader in capital goods, uniting agricultural and construction equipment operations with Iveco trucks, commercial and specialty vehicles and FPT Industrial’s broad portfolio of powertrain applications. The group’s 11 brands include such historical names and Case Tractor and International Harvester in the agricultural equipment industry (now Case IH), and Fiat in the automobile industry. CNH Industrial has 64 manufacturing plants, 49 research and development centers, a workforce of more than 68,000 people and some 6,000 dealers, and is present in 190 countries.^*

I’m very excited that a company like CNH recognized the value Polarion Software’s application lifecycle management and automotive solutions bring to the table. It’s one thing for us to build what we think is a great solution for managing all kinds of development projects on a global enterprise scale; it’s quite another when an international giant with revenues of US $34 billion in it’s last fiscal year vindicates our vision and commits to a US $1.4 million purchase of our software, maintenance, and services.

The motivation for going with Polarion was to replace IBM DOORS^®. In CNH’s view, Polarion ALM, with its web based interface was much easier (and therefore less expensive) to install, maintain, and use. Also, the company needs to share designs and requirements with their suppliers… virtually impossible using DOORS, but a simple matter in Polarion, either by allowing selective access to information on a Polarion portal via our state-of-the-art security, or by using our unique Round-trip for Microsoft Office^® feature to collaborate with purely external stakeholders.

CNH Industrial will initially have 350 users in the United States, Italy,Brazil and India using mainly our ALM solution. The installation will be hosted by Polarion in the United States.
