Christmas Event requirements in Polarion linked to Trello card (as task) based on REST API

06 December 2024

Show how Polarion can be integrated via scripts and workflow with a solution that offers REST API.

This is a very simple use case where the integration between Polarion and Trello just focuses on creating Trello cards from Polarion work items. It’s an easy, one-way sync to show how Requirements and Tasks (e.g., for a Christmas Event project) can be managed across both platforms. This simple process doesn’t require complex status updates or triggers—just creating a Trello card whenever a requirement status changed in Polarion.

What happens in this simple example?

  • Polarion: From a requirement, “Buy Christmas Tree.”
  • Trello: A new Trello card is automatically created in the “To-Do” list, with the title and description copied from the Polarion work item by changing Polarion Work Item Status that triggered script function.

What can be exchanged via this script?

  • Work Item Title from Polarion → Card Title in Trello.
  • Work Item Description from Polarion → Card Description in Trello.

Scripts can be of course extended to exchange many other custom fields, properties between both solutions.

This integration shows how we can easily integrate Polarion with another solution which has REST API availability.

Scripts are delivered as sample only and without official support of Siemens Digital Industries Software.
