While access to NX Academic Edition is not required to attend, the free NX Student Edition may not include access to the new features highlighted in the webinar. Some new features are exclusive to the new SaaS product released in June 2025, Designcenter X NX Academic Edition.

Designcenter X NX Academic Edition

Designcenter X NX Academic Edition includes the same features and capabilities as the commercial versions of our SaaS NX X Design and Manufacturing solutions, plus functionality to open files from NX Student Edition and access to the Teamcenter Share app for collaboration and storage. This deployment is a local install, with entitlement, configuration and updates in the cloud. It is available to accredited academic institutions such as universities, technical colleges, trade schools and high schools through the Siemens Academic Partner Program. The software is intended for classroom training and research projects only.

For educators and students, you can access Immersive Engineering with NX Immersive Designer and the Sony XR head-mounted display exclusively with Designcenter X NX Academic Edition.

NX Academic Edition

NX Academic Edition is an on-premises, academic version of our commercial NX CAD/CAM/CAE software offered through the Siemens Academic Partner Program.

NX Student Edition

NX Student Edition is a free NX CAD/CAM/CAE download from Siemens Digital Industries Software available online. It includes comprehensive NX 3D design tools and a full suite of NX CAM programming tools. The NX Student Edition is intended for students and life-long learners to learn NX.

Limitations: It is only available for Windows 64-bit. Watermarks are added to data to prevent NX Student Edition being used for commercial work, and you cannot open files from NX Student Edition in a commercial edition of NX. CAM data is not available for post-processing.
