NX Virtual Reality

Since Virtual Reality was introduced inside NX three years ago, we have had the pleasure of seeing our customers take advantages of the many visualization advantages it brings. Through the past few releases of continuous release we’ve seen some upgrades to the Virtual Reality application. Please see below for an update to what you can expect when you enact in Virtual Reality with NX.

Immersive Design Review and Collaboration

Visualization sits at the heart of NX supporting all areas. Immersing yourself into your product set brings a whole different level of visualization. Take your 2D NX design review tools into a 3D immersive experience that drives innovation and collaboration throughout your business.

NX makes it easy for users to transition to the NX VR world with more tools to streamline design reviews. Capabilities that improve user experience support a seamless transition from the 2D to 3D worlds, especially for new VR users.

You can expect to see:
•Dynamic controller tooltips
•Context menu for object-action paradigm
•Properties panels
•Enhanced display includes ambient shadows

There are also specialized controls to help navigate the environment “Navi Cube” to orient and scale objects.
•Teleport to jump directly to a location
•Controller stride movement

Inspection and Review tools

Inspect and review designs in full scale using a selection of familiar tools all connected directly through NX to the digital thread. Familiar and natural workflows and tools extend from NX into the immersive experience speeding review and decision making. Design inspection and review tools include:
•Associative measure with snap points for validation within VR
•Move object to explore what-if scenarios
•Section cut tool for inspecting profiles with capping
•3D paint markup
•Snapshot to capture and restore review states during current review or in a later session.

Bring your model into human scale

NX Virtual Reality connects directly to the NX session ensuring the most optimal immersive design review workflow.

NX VR is a natural extension to your design workflow taking realism to a whole new level with an integrated, immersive 3D environment for inspection and design reviews at full scale.
.•Launch into VR with one-click with no data preparation or time consuming exports required improving the efficiency of your team reviews.
•Intuitive viewing with familiar concepts, interactions and controls enables easy onboarding
.•Scale models beyond real size to check small size details.
•Surface your design meta data inside the virtual experience.

Collaborate!

Collaboration benefits include saving time and travel costs amongst other things. Promotes a shared understanding of designs as well when you utilize multi-user collaboration with NX Virtual Reality. With NX you can find support for multi-user VR sessions combined with spatial audio integration. This takes design review participants to the next level of immersion and collaboration. With multi-user collaboration you can: •Hosts can collaborate with multiple users across different geographical locations
•“Host” invites attendees to a collaborative session •Participants join the session through shared server
•Leverages NX and Teamcenter data security
•Multiple users with avatars in each session
•Operations and gestures synched via server
•Supports spatial audio for true immersive experience

Desktop Mode

By having desktop mode enabled you can grow the number of users participating in remote design review sessions to boost productivity and shared understanding. Whether you are collaborating or not, NX VR offers a desktop mode where you can enter the virtual environment without a headset and instead observe the collaborative session through a more traditional viewing window. For collaboration in particular, this means more users can collaborate in a design review and still take understanding and value from the shared experience Desktop mode is a simple option on startup and the mouse and keyboard controls allow for full navigation.
