NX Product Engineering Sessions at Realize LIVE 2020 Replays
NX – Creating your Product Digital Twin
Join Bob, Paul, Jennifer and Paul to take a look at how our Product Engineering Solutions are helping you adapt to today’s challenges. Bob will look at supporting the changing business landscape and innovating for the future. Jennifer will talk about some of the new initiatives in place to help your businesses grow. Paul and Paul will then cover some of the exciting new highlights of the latest release of NX which will allow you to continue with your digitalization strategies, allowing you to build your product digital twin faster than ever before. This session will mix presentation and live demonstration of some of the exciting new capabilities that will be available to you after the conference.
Electric Aircraft Design at Bye Aerospace
Bye Aerospace’s (BA) all electric eFlyer 2 design process is wholly enabled by the out-of-the-box Siemens DI SW integrated suite of solutions (with no 3rd party applications or customization). This presentation would show how Siemens’ software fully supports BA’s innovative multidisciplinary model-based design processes. Using BA developed top-down design techniques, the lean engineering team can shorten design cycles, increase the number of design iterations, and update to system level aero changes during detail design. All culminating in the business being able to quickly and robustly design the best aircraft and get it to market faster.
Sketcher – Enabling Productivity Gains Through Predictive Behavior
Sketching is fundamental to 3D CAD design. It has changed very little over the history of mCAD. Traditional workflow is to draw lines, add dimensions and finally geometric constraints to create design intent. The mantra has always been to fully constrain sketches, which takes time and often results in users simply placing constraints and dimensions that are not necessary in an attempt to fully constraint the 2D curves. Come see how NX is changing this decades old methodology by harnessing the power of knowledge to eliminate the need for geometric constraints. When concepting on a napkin the human understands the relationship between the dimensions and the 2D curves without the need to draw geometric constraints. This behavior is implied by the napkin sketch itself. We are embedding this human like understanding in the sketching environment, so the designer does not need to burden themselves with constraint creation.
Checkmate at Collins Aerospace
Checkmate is a tool that allows you to define and run various checks against your CAD data. Ben has been the project manager at Collins Aerospace overseeing maintenance and development of checkmate at our Winston-Salem NC facility over the past 5 years. He is excited to share insights on how this has worked for us. While we use checkmate to check both 3D and 2D data, this presentation will focus on drawings with topics such as:
-Case studies of how Checkmate has been used in the Collins Aerospace division of United Technologies.
-Lessons learned from scaling up checkmate usage to progressively larger numbers of users at additional locations.
-Discoveries from reviewing checkmate results on 100’s of thousands of parts and drawings.
-Accidental drawings errors made by users that we detected that you might not know about, and suggestions on how to prevent them.
-Advocacy for what makes for a successful implementation of Checkmate, and some common logical fallacies you want to avoid.
Model Based Definition – Successes and Challenges
The benefits of capturing GD&T with 3D annotations have been touted for decades, so why is it taking so long for companies to deploy their Model Based Definition and Model Based Enterprise solutions? For those who are attempting to move to this new paradigm know the difficulties changing their processes and getting buy-in from all the departments involved. We’ll discuss the challenges and successes from those who have deployed MBD and MBE solutions.
Discovering the value of ECAD MCAD Collaboration
What is the value of ECAD MCAD Collaboration? Why is it important? Do you have a process and is it working well or could it be better? Bridging the gap between electronic and mechanical design domains is seen as a significant product design challenge by nearly 70% of corporations. Come and see the complete solution that Siemens has to offer that revolutionizes this challenge. This session will provide an in-depth look at how Siemens provides a single digital-thread solution to ECAD and MCAD design domain collaboration. The integration of Siemens NX with all ECAD design tools and specifically Mentor Xpedition is key to blurring the lines between design silos that has traditionally been a communications challenge between disparate applications. You will see our view of market trends driving the need for efficient solutions and experience the key capabilities of our rich feature set that provides the only real solution for multi-domain collaboration from our product specialists. One solution, one company, one seamless process.
NX Design for Additive Manufacturing – Driving industrialization through NX leading design for additive capabilities
Maximizing business value of additive manufacturing requires a change in mindset. Optimizing the design for additive manufacturing can yield significant improvements in speeding manufacturing cycles, improving product quality, and reducing program costs. Realizing these benefits requires the power and flexibility of NX. NX combines leading Design for Additive Manufacturing workflow capability within the world’s most productive modeling environment. Come join this session and learn how NX Design for Additive Manufacturing, Synchronous Modeling and Convergent Modeling will help you realize your vision of an Industrialized Additive Manufacturing process.
