Solid Edge ST8 – Design without boundaries

By DavidChadwick

This year our Solid Edge ST8 launch is at the Siemens PLM Connection Americas User Conference in Dallas. This user focused event is a natural venue for our launch where the theme for Solid Edge ST8 is “Design without boundaries” and the focus is on continued productivity improvements and ease of access for our Solid Edge users. As John Miller, Senior Vice President for Mainstream Engineering Software comments in the ST8 press release “Solid Edge ST8 significantly enhances accessibility and ease of use … customers have a choice of how they purchase and deploy Solid Edge. Whether it be with a perpetual or subscription license, on a desktop workstation or a fully mobile platform. We are able to provide businesses of all sizes the ability to design better and realize innovation.”

Enhancements in 3D modeling in ST8 enable designers to focus on optimizing their designs, not on operating the software

Solid Edge ST8 introduces many user requested enhancements that enable users to focus on optimizing their designs, not on how their software works. Check out the What’s New in Solid Edge ST8 web page for more details – and don’t miss the additional videos on the Demos tab that illustrate new capabilities in specific areas like helical curve creation, feature patterning, wire routing and visual design management. And with the introduction of ST8 we further enhance our unique synchronous technology capabilities – for example check out this video of a streamlined interface that displays only the relevant design intent options to the user, easily capturing the designer’s knowledge and speeding design changes.

Enhancements in Solid Edge ST8 extend to areas like topology optimized meshing, electro-mechanical design, drawing creation and visual design management

For the last few years we combined our launch for the latest release of Solid Edge with our Solid Edge University events. By splitting the launch out this year we can be even more focused on providing excellent user focused Solid Edge University events including the UK event at Silverstone in July and the Americas event in Cincinnati in October – sign up early for these events where you will be able to get hands-on experience with Solid Edge ST8 and can choose from a variety of interesting presentations from fellow customers, our partners and Siemens technical staff.

And a final word from Chad Jackson of industry analyst Lifecycle Insights who gives his thoughts on Solid Edge ST8 and its focus on meeting the needs of CAD users:
