By Brooke Heerdegen

For the second consecutive year, Siemens has been recognized with the Tech Cares Award from TrustRadius, a software peer review platform. This fourth-annual award acknowledges B2B tech companies that support employees, communities, and the environment with impactful corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

We are honored and proud to receive this recognition for our contributions to key areas of corporate social responsibility.

About the TrustRadius 2023 Tech Cares Award

Since 2020, TrustRadius has recognized and awarded select tech companies that go above and beyond to demonstrate exceptional corporate social responsibility.

“Siemens has secured the 2023 Tech Cares Award for its outstanding commitment to corporate social responsibility,” said Megan Headley, VP of Research at TrustRadius. “From spearheading sustainability initiatives, promoting digital solutions for a greener world, to fostering community engagement and diversity through comprehensive CSR programs, Siemens exemplifies a holistic dedication to driving positive change.”

For the 2023 Tech Cares Awards, winners were chosen based on their involvement in the following criteria:

  • Volunteerism
  • Robust diversity, equity, and inclusion programs
  • Charitable donations and fundraising
  • Workplace culture, including support for remote and in-office employees
  • Demonstrable support for environmental sustainability

Corporate social responsibility and employee empowerment are at the very heart of our business. We continuously strive to raise the bar on what we contribute to these areas, as both are necessary to leave a lasting, positive impact on the world.

How Siemens is making an impact in 2023

For over 175 years, making a positive impact on the world has been at the core of Siemens’ mission. We take pride in providing technologies that improve quality of life and create lasting value to global business and beyond. In our daily work, we accomplish this through our strategic priorities focusing on customer impact, creating technology with purpose, empowering people and fostering a growth mindset among our employees.

Learn how we continue to make a meaningful impact through the areas of corporate social responsibility listed below.

Environmental sustainability

Protecting and preserving the natural environment is critical to the future of humanity. Siemens was the first global industrial company to commit to 100% carbon neutrality by 2030, achieving a 54% emissions reduction by 2020.

In addition, we took our ESG commitment to the next level by establishing our DEGREE framework for sustainability. This framework outlines our priorities and goals across six areas of social and environmental impact.

Workplace culture

As a global company, Siemens spans more than 190 countries worldwide. Therefore, providing maximum flexibility for in-person and remote employees is a high priority.

In addition to supporting both remote and in-person work environments, we strive to give our employees the best opportunities for career growth. No matter what stage of one’s career, Siemens believes that learning and personal development are an ongoing, lifelong process.

Through the Siemens Foundation, we are also working to close the opportunity gap for young adults in STEM technical careers.

Diversity, equity and inclusion programs

Cultivating a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion is critical to our mission at Siemens.

As a part of our commitment to supporting diversity and inclusion in the workplace, we offer a variety of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) to ensure everyone has a voice and feels included.

We are also actively working to advance gender and racial equity in our workplace, along with supporting an inclusive environment for members of the LGBTQIA+ community and people with disabilities.

Charitable donations and fundraising

Siemens understands the importance of giving back to those in need. Through the Siemens Caring Hands association, over €24 million has been donated over the past three years for disaster relief efforts.

In addition, Siemens continues to donate to other causes, including €12 million for aid projects in Ukraine and €15.2 million for COVID-19 relief efforts.

Volunteerism

At Siemens, we know volunteer work is incredibly valuable and necessary to support global and local communities. Because of this, Siemens employees are encouraged and enabled to perform volunteer work twice per week.

This allows our employees to contribute approximately 10,000 hours of volunteer work every year.
