Augmented Reality From COFES

"augmented reality", PLM

At an event like COFES, there is a lot of thought leadership in the air. It makes you wonder what big ideas will stick and what they will look like when they’re implemented. One presentation on practical implications of augmented reality was a good mix of both by Joe Juhnke of Tanagram . Joe spent some time showing mixed media reality scenes for military applications. He also shared examples for BIM and PLM. In PLM, this is about superimposing the data on the environment. One PLM example was an automotive application related to viewing customer requested design changes and their implications. This goes beyond virtual reality because of the depth of data that can be displayed and more importantly interacted with. It showed how you could realistically depict some of the innovation ideas Christian de Neef’s shared earlier.

Here’s my video interview with Joe.

You can see some screen shots from his presentation on Oleg’s post and stay tuned to where this is headed on Tanagram’s blog.
