After Embedded World 2018

Every year I depart from Embedded World with a feeling of awe – mainly inspired by the scale of the event. I observe that, this year, the show saw over 32,000 visitors from 78 countries. Although the show halls are large, this number explains why the place seemed to be packed all the time. The conference, as usual, was quite well managed and also very busy. All of my talks were well attended. Again, the numbers are impressive: over 2000 participants and speakers from 52 countries.

Mentor was quite active at the show …

On the Mentor booth, a selection of technologies were on show from various parts of the company. One particular area of interest is industrial automation, which, of course, is tied in with IoT. The announcement of Mentor Embedded IoT Framework was made at the time of the show and this technology sparked a lot of interest. My colleague, Ricardo Anguiano made a demonstration, which can be seen in a report by Rich Nass or here:

My own contribution to the event was primarily 4 presentations in the conference. I provided details of these in a previous posting.

Embedded World is in my diary for next year …

UPDATE: Mentor won the VDC Research Embeddy Award for Software!
